NTA JEE Main 2020

Much to student’s relief, NTA (National Testing Agency) has released the mock question paper sharing the long-form or numerical type questions. This will be the first time when these questions will be introduced in the JEE (Joint Entrance Test) main 2020 conducted to access candidates for admission to engineering colleges across India. This is also a pre-requisite exam to appear for the JEE-advanced entrance exam for the IIT (Indian Institute of Technology).

From 2020 onwards, the NTA will ask five long-form numerical type questions in the JEE exam. Each question will be for 4 marks each, however, unlike the objective type questions, the numerical questions will not have any negative making. Experts had remarked that these questions are likely to bring down the accuracy and hence the cut-off of the JEE exam.

Under the new exam pattern, the number of questions per subject was reduced from 30 multiple-choice questions to 20 multiple-choice questions and 5 questions with numerical answers. The MCQ will still have negative marking for each wrong answer, while there is no negative marking for the other 5 questions.

The candidates have to alter the exam strategy. Instead of using the elimination method, just have to arrive at the right choice and have to know the correct method to answer the critical 5 questions.

NTA organizes the JEE main exam twice a year. The entrance will be held from 6th January 2020 to 11th January 2020, while the April exams will be held from 9th April 2020 to 13th April 2020. The exam began as a central way to access students in 2012.
