Scientific study tips to ace the JEE

Plancess Edusolutions brings to you
scientific study skills that can help to crack competitive entrance exams
like the Joint Entrance
Examination (JEE).

As
students, you might know what to study and when to study; these lessons are
imparted in every school. But do you know how to study? It is surprising that
during our entire school time, we are never taught how to ‘learn’ effectively.

Create The Right Mood:Repeated actions tune your mind to a routine. For
instance, if you wake up at 8 a.m. everyday during the weekday,
chances are high that you will fall in the same routine even in the weekends.
Once you get accustomed to this, you will mechanically get into the mood
to study at that time. It eliminates boredom; and works really well for
subjects or topics you don’t like.

Synchronize Your College-Timetable with your Personal
Study Plan:
When your
teacher teaches a topic in class, you should try to study, revise or make
summary notes as soon as you come home. There are ample benefits of making and
using revision notes. When there is a class test, you can refer to these notes a
few minutes before the exam.

Break Your Preparation into Shorter Sessions: Many students say they learn as much in a one-hour pre-planned
session as they would in a 6-7
hours long unplanned session. Many researchers have found that by
using a well-created study plan, candidates could reduce their study-time
by at least 20%. It is
equally important to take study breaks for your brain to function properly. It
also helps you remember stuff. When you are trying to learn dates or memorize
important events, you should study for not more than 20-30 minutes at a stretch.

Avoid Studying When You Are
Sleepy:
Everybody
has a time when they just cannot control their sleep. If you take up books at
that time, you won’t be able to learn anything. Let the phase pass; you should engage
yourself in other activities like cleaning your wardrobe, room or any such other
things to avoid your sleep.

Schedule Your Preparation Wisely: Researchers have found that it is
better to schedule contrasting subjects one after another, rather than clubbing
them together. If you have planned studying theory Physics and Chemistry in a
day, change your plan a little to maintain your interest level. You can include
problem-solving in between; this will help you revise what you have studied and
maintain your interest level.

Highlight Important Points:It is always good to colour your book i.e.
mark/highlight important points from every chapter you study. You can colour
main ideas, dates, and facts for easy understanding. It makes revision easier.
Mark the stuff such that the next time you open the book, you’ll be able to
understand the points marked.
