Following are the topics that one must know to sustain the highly competitive Tier-1 online exam.
- Follow the Papers:
Your most important source are the previous years’ question papers. If you know what topics to be eliminated, then half of your work is done. Focus on frequently asked questions. Below is an analysis of previous years’ SSC CGL question papers.
The syllabus of GK is huge and you can never cover it all. But don’t devote much time here, although there are some topics which cannot be ignored and for everything else there is always a Lucent. Here are some topics which you should know before taking this year’s SSC CGL Tier-1 exam.

Due to the pre-defined nature of questions, you will find this section easy. Just practice the question papers, and you will definitely score well (you should at least get 40+ here, in less than 30 minutes).

As experts say, it is this section coupled with Quant that can make you or break you in SSC CGL Tier-1 2016. This section can easily fetch you around 40-45 marks, which can contribute substantially for clearing the cut offs.
Quantitative Aptitude: 25 questions for 50 marks
- Most important part of the syllabus. This is the section where you should devote most of your time. Just purchase any good book (Arihant is fine) and practise thoroughly. Mugging shortcuts will help you to get an edge over others. Try solving every question within 1 minute.

English
- Due to its unpredictable nature, this session is generally a bit tricky. However the best part is that you can cover this session in short span with strategic practice. The mock test will help you gain confidence in this session. Due to the online format, reading long comprehensions might be a pain, hence it is advisable to take atleast one mock test every day.
