Three students suspended after ragging allegation surface at BITS Warangal

Homesh kumar, a third-year engineering student of Balaji
Institute of Technology and Science (BITS), Warangal has been suspended on the
basis of a ragging complaint filed by Aditya G. and Vishal Reddy, second-year engineering
students.  Charan Reddy and Krishna Rao,
friends of Homesh from third-year, have also been suspended.

Aditya alleges that Homesh and his friends beat him up
following an argument. The argument started when Homesh confronted Aditya and
asked him to perform some vulgar actions. Aditya refused to do anything and replied
that he was not a first year student, but from the second year. Homesh taking
offense roughed up Aditya.

Aditya complained to the college authorities. In
retaliation, Homesh and his two friends again confronted Aditya, outside the
college gate, over the complaint. Aditya raised an alarm and the security
guards of the college the students to, Dr. V.S. Hariharan, Principal of BITS
Warangal. Aditya was assured of immediate relief by the principal.

Dr. Hariharan, said, “It is not a case of ragging. It is a
personal feud between the students. We have suspended Homesh and three of his
friends from the college with immediate effect.” Dr. Hariharan added that a
committee has been formed to enquire into the matter.

Aditya, meanwhile, has also filed a police compliant against
Homesh.  Inspector Diwakar of Narsampet
Police Station, under whose jurisdiction BITS Warangal comes, said, “Homesh, Charan
Reddy and Krishna Rao, friends of Homesh have been booked under section 290,
323 and 342 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Andhra Pradesh Prohibition of
Ragging Act, 1997.”
