Tips to Crack MICAT

Specific instructions for the MICAT 2015 will be out in due course of time.

For reference, the MICAT 2014 had the following sections (Note: This may or may not

be the same for MICAT 2015):

Verbal Reasoning – Word association, visual reasoning, implicit statements,

assumptions and more.

Quantitative ability and Data Interpretation

Logical Reasoning

Psychometric Section – There is no practice as such for the psychometric

section. Ensure you know yourself well and answer the questions truthfully.

Creative Writing – Essay & story writing questions. These are designed to gauge

your creativity and analytical bent of mind. For this section, you need to build

your writing and creative skills. At the same time, there should be enough logic to

keep the readers engaged. One needs to be upbeat about what is happening in

the world to make the arguments richer. Both creativity and common sense are

required.

General Awareness and Current Affairs

(you can check out the MICA Quiz

Club Facebook page http://on.fb.me/1ze95W8 for more on the same) – These questions may span various

industries such as media, marketing, advertising, business, and contemporary

social and industry issues. You can refer to websites such as AFAQs, Campaign

India/Asia, Nielsen Newswire, Thinking Aloud and Exchange4Media etc. which

have information related to marketing and media industry.

For MICAT 2014, there was no case of special weightage or cut-offs for the different

sections of the MICAT.

A sample paper has been uploaded on the MICA website.

Ensure that you go

through the same to get a feel of the exam pattern and question types.

You can also pick questions from different sources and discuss the same with other

.There is no cut-off or weightage offered to the eligibility exams (CAT, MAT, XAT etc.)

as they are simply an AICTE pre-requisite. What matters is your performance in the

MICAT, so ensure you give it your best shot.

The MICAT overall is not very quant or DI intensive. It’s largely to assess your creative

abilities and analytical skills. The questions test your creativity and lateral thinking,

which is the differentiating factor of MICAT from other MBA entrance exams. You need

to plan well and complete all the sections that will take you through to the Group

Exercise and Personal Interview (GE&PI) stage.
