Two engineering students arrested for sending threat emails to Bengaluru Airport
Raghvendra (26) and Hoysala (23), two M.Tech students of
East West College of Engineering, Bengaluru, have been arrested by the
Bengaluru Police on May 24, 2016. The two were arrested for sending two threat
emails to an official of the Kempegowda
International Airport (KIA). The accused sent emails in the name of three of
their college professors as a revenge for giving less marks to the accused in the semester exam.
An official of the Airport police station told PaGaLGuY,
“The duo sent their first email to an official of KIA on March 22, 2016. Since
then, we have been tracing them through the cyber cell. On May 6, they sent
their second email, in the name of three college professors, demanding a sum of
Rs 10 million and threatening the KIA official of bombing the airport and hijacking
an aircraft.”
The IP address of the computer was traced to the East West
College of Engineering, after which the Bengaluru police booked the duo under
Indian Penal Code (IPC) section 177 (Furnishing False Details), IPC -505
(Public Mischief), IPC-507 (Criminal intimidation through anonymous
communication), IPC-386 (Extortion by creating public fear).
