UPSC Civil Services Examination 2015 – latest developments

Dear Readers,

The Government of India has approved of certain changes in the upcoming (i.e., the 2015) Union Public Service Commission Civil Services Examination.

As per the latest notice issued by the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances & Pensions, Government of India, the General Studies Paper II (CSAT) in the preliminary examination will be a qualifying paper with the minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33% of the total marks of the paper. In addition, the English Language comprehension skill section of the General Studies Paper II (CSAT), which was excluded in 2014, will continue to be excluded even this year.

In order to further examine, and satisfactorily address the issue of maximum upper age limit, number of attempts, syllabus and scheme of examination, the Government has decided to constitute an expert committee.

Till the time that the recommendations of the expert committee are out and the Government’s decision over the same is published, the above mentioned rules would be applicable. These rules have been incorporated in the Civil Services Examination Rules – 2015.
