The UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist exam 2020 is to be held on 19th January 2020, and the application process is slated to begin on 25th September 2019. Eligibility criteria
- The candidates must not be below 21 years of age and above 32 years of age to be eligible for the examination.
- Age relaxation of 5 years for ex-servicemen and SC/ST candidates, 3 years for OBC candidates and 10 years for orthopedically disabled are provided.
- Candidates should have a master’s degree in the following streams to be eligible for the exam:
- Geological science
- Geology
- Applied Geology
- Geo-exploration or mineral exploration
- Engineering geology
- Earth science and resource management
- Marine Geology
- Oceanography and geochemistry
- Geological Technology
- Coastal area studies
- Petroleum Geosciences, etc.
The exam pattern
The UPSC Combined Geo-Scientist and Geologist exam 2020 is divided into three phases both of which are written tests. The first phase is the preliminary examination which is an objective type examination. It is a computer-based examination with two papers and will have to be completed in two hours. The second phase of examination is the mains which is a written test and not objective type. The exam has three papers for each stream and should be completed in three hours. Finally, eligible candidates are sent into the third phase, which is the personality test round. Candidates who pass all the three rounds will get the job.
