Introduction:
TISS stands for Tata Institute of Social Sciences. It is a national level entrance exam which is held for admissions in 55 Master’s Degree Program which are offered by Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS). These courses are not MBA programs. Instead, they offer flagship courses like MA in Human Resource and Labour Relations. This is a degree that is equal to an MBA-HR Degree. It offers various courses like MA, M.Sc., M.P.H., and M.H.A.
Exam Pattern:
This Exam is conducted through online mode. This means that the candidates are supposed to go to their exam centers. Here, they will have question papers displayed on the desktop of a computer. One computer will be assigned to each candidate.
Candidates who have applied for a single program or multiple programs must appear for only a single paper. The next exam is going to be conducted in January on the 19th. Candidates who are seeking admission to Post-Graduate Degree courses at TISS campuses in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Tuljapur and Guwahati can apply for TISSNET 2019.
Candidates who are visually impaired will be provided with an option to SCRIBE the selected answer in order to complete the test. However, the SCRIBE must be an undergraduate student and shall carry a valid ID Proof.
The Candidates who have a disability of 40% or more shall get an extra compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour.
Exam Centers:
The Candidates have an option of choosing their preferred center while filling an online form. This venue needs to be chosen carefully as there is no option given later to change the chosen exam center. At the time of registration, the exam center will be allotted.
The candidates need to carry their admit card issued by the authorities to the examination hall. They are also required to carry another photo ID proof like a license or Voter ID, AAdhar Card or Passport.
The reporting time of the candidates is an hour before the time of examination. The Exam Centres are decided to keep in mind the number of applicants from a city. If the number of applicants from a city is high, it is chosen as a city where the exam center is held. The Exam centers are divided into North, South, East, and West.
In the northern region, cities like Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Dehradun, Mohali, Jaipur, Lucknow, and Varanasi are chosen cities where the examination will be held.
In the South Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Cochin Vishakhapatnam, Madurai, and Thiruvananthapuram are cities where an examination is conducted.
In the East, cities like Kolkata, Ranchi, Guwahati, Silchar, Raipur, Bhubaneshwar, Jamshedpur, Dimapur, and Patna are the centers for examination.
In the West, centers are held in Mumbai, Navi-Mumbai, Bhopal, Nagpur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Gwalior, Aurangabad, Indore, and Solapur.
Exam Pattern:
The Examination is held for a total of 100 marks. The type of examination is multiple choice question. This means that for every question, there will be four options of answers given. The candidate must mark the correct answer.
There are three sections. These are General Awareness, Mathematics, Logical Reasoning and English. The total duration of Examination is 1 hour and 40 minutes. There is no time limit for completion of each section. 1 mark is allotted per question. The section of General Awareness carries 40 marks, Mathematics holds 30 marks and English also carries 30 marks from the total paper. There is no system of negative marking in this paper. That means, unlike other competitive exams, TISS does not deduct your mark for a wrong answer.
