What I’ve learnt from the 12 Angry Men
If you’ve got a good %ile in CAT, and are on the shortlist for GD/PIs this is a must watch movie for you.
It all started when I was exploring my hard disk, and was erasing all those movies which I’ve watched. Then I came across ’12 Angry Men’. It is a very old movie, a 1957 release. Movies back then had just stories, not even much of action. This movie was on the ‘All time top 250’ of IMDB, and it had a running time of around 90 minutes, which provoked me to watch it then and there.
The movie shows you how different people and their views are, how supportive people are when you make a valid point, how opposive people are when you say something ridiculous, how people change their views just by listening to others, and in general how meetings go on.
What I’ve learnt from the movie can be summed up as “If you have got a point backed up by your own confidence, and people are against you, then no matter how hard it might be for you, never ever give up. Change can be gradual, but it is for definite.”
The movie is spectacular. Entire movie is shot just in 3 rooms viz, the court room, the discussion room and the wash room. The movie had no adventure, no comedy, no romance. It just had words backed up by some spectacular actors. Actors who are no more, but will be remembered through their words.
