SYLLABUS FOR XAT 2020
The curriculum for XAT 2020 forms the most basic and primary part of a candidate’s preparation process for the final XAT 2020 examination. The fundamental changes in the syllabus and important topics are some things that all aspiring candidates must be acquainted with the changes and latest syllabus and exam pattern.
Judging by previous years XAT question papers, the XAT 2020 syllabus has four major components, which are as follows:
- Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension (VARC) and Logical Reasoning
- Decision Making
- Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation (QADI)
- General Knowledge

EXAMINATION PATTERN FOR XAT 2020
The examination pattern for XAT has observed many noticeable changes since XAT 2018. One of the most notable is the shift from the examination being conducted in the pen-paper mode; since 2019, XAT has been a Computer Based Test (CBT), held in the online mode. The exam is divided into two parts. Part 1 consists of the VARC, Logical Reasoning section, Decision Making, as well as the QADI section. Part 2 consists of the GK section only.
The updated examination pattern for XAT 2020 has been provided in the table below.

Fundamental changes introduced in XAT examination pattern:
- XAT 2020 is a CBT; it is conducted in the online mode.
- There are no subjective questions in XAT 2020- all questions are presented in the MCQ format.
- The essay type question has been removed, reducing the number of sections from five to four.
- Candidates will get one mark for every right answer. For Section1, .25 is negative marking. Section 2 does not have any negative marking.ec
- NAT questions will be introduced in XAT 2020. Candidates are required to use the virtual keypad to answer the Numerical Answer Type (NAT) questions.
- Visually impaired candidates are allotted 25 minutes of extra time to answer the examination.
- The time duration for XAT 2020 has been reduced to 3 hours, from the previous 3.5 hours.
