Campus Facilities

The Indian Institute of Management, Bodh Gaya is set to welcome its new campus by 2022. The Enlightening IIM is moving with full force to see its dream to have a state of the art campus come true.

IIM Bodh Gaya was established in 2015 and was mentored by IIM Calcutta in its initial years. To build the new campus, one of India’s leading architectural firms, C.P. Kukreja Architects have been selected through a national competition to design it. The new campus, which is spread over 73 acres is located in the holy city of Bodh Gaya. The concept for the architecture is inspired by Buddhist ideologies.

“It is our pleasure to build a 21st-century distinct campus set in a city that is deeprooted with historical significance. The design is an amalgamation of these Buddhist ideologies with a modern touch which contributes towards the vision of establishing a holistic form of an educational space” said the man behind the project, C.P. Kukreja Architects Managing Principal, Dikshu C. Kukreja.

The campus will boast of the grandeur which is translated through various design elements. Entering the campus, one is greeted with the Buddhist ‘toranas’ (ornamental gateways), which radiates the feel of the grand culture. Another highlight of the design is the Bodhi Tree under which Lord Buddha attained enlightenment, which adorns between these ‘toranas’. The Bodhi Tree is the inspiration for a striking steel edifice. Transmitting the values of wisdom is the edifice that is visible from every part of the campus.

The grand architecture which is a testament to the rich heritage of the sacred city is amalgamated with modern-day establishments. The institute’s library block is a literal translation of the inside space onto its facade. The walls are shaped as a vertical stack of books, while open books form the inspiration for the skylights on the building. The institute is also going to have a Sports complex and a Mindfulness Centre on campus.

The design of the campus is visualized in a way to complement the context of the site. It seeks to embrace overall development through a world-class educational experience that the institute is to provide. Amidst the lush greenery, the campus will stand as a mark of enlightenment.
