Placements at IIT Kanpur

Phase 1 of the placement drive for the batch 2021-22 has concluded at IIT Kanpur. The institute saw a 150 percent increase in international job offers, with 47 received this year compared to 19 last year. The highest international salary package of INR 2.06 CPA and the highest domestic salary package of INR 1.2 CPA were offered during the 2022 placement drive. 

The MBA class of 2020-22 at IIT Kanpur has achieved a 100% placement rate, with all 55 students who participated in the placement process landing jobs in addition to the 11 pre-placement offers/interviews (PPO / PPI). During the global economic downturn, the MBA programme saw a 22.54 percent year-over-year (YoY) increase in average CTC.

The MBA programme at IIT Kanpur has always had one of the highest fee-to-cost ratios in the country, but this year the programme outdid itself, with a 1:9 average fee-to-cost ratio, the highest in the country.

Graviton Trading chose three students for a package worth INR. 82 LPA, and QuantBox offered a package worth INR. 80 LPA to one student, as part of IIT Kanpur’s 2020-21 placement drive. Google and Microsoft both provided attractive packages for domestic profiles at the institute.

By the fourth day of its 2020-21 placement drive, the institute had landed a whopping INR. 1.47 Crore package from an MNC. Despite the pandemic, the institute hosted more than 230 recruiters.

The institute completed the first phase of the 2020-21 placement drive, with 821 offers accepted out of 709. The entire placement procedure was carried out online. During the 2019-20 placement drive, IIT Kanpur had a placement rate of 93.17 percent. The highest CTC had been INR 1.54 CPA. However, the highest CTC under the MBA programme was INR. 20 LPA.

Graviton Trading chose three students for a package worth INR. 82 LPA, and QuantBox offered a package worth INR. 80 LPA to one student, as part of IIT Kanpur’s 2020-21 placement drive.

The institute finished the first phase of its recruitment process with 821 offers from 230+ recruiters. The coding and software firms contributed the most to the placement drive (59 percent), while the core firms contributed about 18 percent of the total placement offers.

The institute is holding a placement drive for the class of 2022, and by the end of day 8, 287 recruiters, including 16 start-ups, had made 1300 offers, including 207 PPOs, only 1100 of which had been accepted. The number of international offers increased by 150 percent over the previous year. More than 80% of the students were placed, with 69 percent of the students being undergraduates and 31 percent being postgraduates.

The highest international CTC in the 2022 placement drive was INR 2.06 LPA ($274,250), while the highest domestic CTC was INR 1.2 CPA. Students were given 49 offers with more than one CPA.

Around 50+ start-up companies, mostly from the software industry, were invited to interview at IIT-Kanpur. CDAP (Cell for Differently Abled Persons) at IIT-Kanpur also pitched in by alerting recruiting firms to their special needs ahead of time.

Google and Microsoft both provided attractive packages for domestic profiles at the institute. One student was given the US profile by Cohesity. Apple and Cohesity also made leading domestic offers of more than INR. 60 LPA (for Indian profiles). The largest international package was worth INR 1.47 crores.
