VIT Business School (VITBS), Vellore Overview

VIT Business School (abbreviated VITBS) was established in September 1994 as the Department of Management Sciences VITBS. The VIT Business School is a part of Vellore Institute of Technology, commonly called VIT University. Currently, VITBS is fast emerging as a premier management institution that adapts to the ever-changing needs of the industry.

VITBS currently imparting education in MBA, BBA and PhD Programs. The Programs at VIT have been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). The institute provides excellent facilities including classrooms, hostels, state-of-art libraries which consist of a robust collection of books, world-class computing & research facilities to cater to a holistic learning environment.

VITBS provides one of the most experienced and renowned faculties around the country. Eminent educators such as Professors Tangellapally Srinivas, Ariful Rehman and Arunai Nambiraj are regular faculty members of the institutions.

The Vellore Institute of Technology Business School was ranked 17th on a list of top 50 business schools across India by the National Institutional Ranking Framework. The Times B School Survey had ranked them 7th in their list of the best b-schools in South India. The Business Line Survey had ranked them 53rd on a pan-India survey.

In the past, VIT Vellore was particularly famous for its mechanical, electrical and computer science departments. However, since the introduction of the VIT Business School, the institution has come to be known for its BBA, MBA and PhD programmes in business administration with options for multiple specialisations. VITBS Vellore Admission Process

Students interested in joining the VIT Business School have to fulfil the requisite criteria required by the University. The candidates must have had appeared for either one of the following exams: CAT, XAT, CMAT or MAT. For applications made overseas, VITBS accepts the candidate’s GMAT score. The University also requires them to have a certain minimum score in their chosen exam.

• BBA candidates are selected on the weighted average of their scores in the (10+2) levels and their performance in the entrance exam conducted by VITBS.
• The MBA candidates are shortlisted for admission based on their performance in CAT, XAT, CMAT, GMAT or MAT.

• In 2018, VIT Vellore saw 120 students placed with 253 offers.
• The average earning package is more than INR 4.5 lakhs, this year.
• The highest recorded salary package for 2018 is INR 30 lakhs.
• Kotak-Mahindra led as the organisation making the most number of recruitments with 19 students.
• They were closely followed by Airtel who took in 15 students.
• HCL with their 14 recruitments closely following their heels.

VITBS Vellore Results and Cut-off

The shortlisting of VIT candidates is done on the basis of their profiles and applications. These are reviewed by the faculty members and executive members of the institute. The performance of the candidate in entrance exams including VITEEE, VITMEE, GMAT, CAT, XAT, MAT or the academic result and extra-curricular activities are taken into consideration.

VITBS Vellore Alumni Association

VIT Alumni Association (VITAA) aims to develop a network to bridge the gap between young VITians and successful Alumni. Members of the association maintain close contact with the institution. VITAA has an enormous network consisting of more than 4,200 people. Famous members of the association include, Ajanta Watches CEO, Rajiv Ranjan, Vice President (East), Reliance Jio Infocomm and Khabeer Ahmed who is in the Management Division of the RBI.

VITBS Vellore Scholarships

Scholarships in the VIT Business School is heavily academic result oriented. It is only a very selected number of students who get scholarships. Candidates from a financially unstable backgrounds are given special consideration. These students undergo extensive background checks before they are deemed fit to be given a scholarship.

VITBS Vellore Campus

The main VIT campus is located on the outskirts of Vellore. It is 130 km west of Chennai.

The campus is divided into two. The academic area of the university along with the women’s hostels are located in the southern section. The northern portion of the campus houses the men’s hostels along with the outdoor stadium. The different sections of the campus are connected by three subways.

The campus has its own water supply and backup electricity supply along with shopping complexes to cater to the needs of residents.
