had gd/pi on 14th 2:00 pm.in calcutta.i am frm eco wid no work ex.dey start sharp on time.had around 60-70 ppl.were divided in 5 groups of ten or so ppl each for the gd.
had a presentation and den a essay.topic:shud indian poverty be glamorised to win awards and is tata nano the future of the auto industry?
let me tell u guys ,plz write vvvv.fast,time ends b4 it starts,atlest for me and i am nt a slow writer.i had jst given the intro wen time ended.
next came gd:we were seated according to our nos.gd"socially relevant advertising like tata tea's jaago re campaign.as a brand manager wud u go for it and y?
next was pi:i was no.1 so was called first.
ques:y finance?what are ur hobbies?last book u read?name two books by ......?name two indian economists?what is gdp?what is gnp?what is sensex?slowdown vs recession?india is facing which one?abt inflation?are u serious type of person?

I was asked why finance,
What is diff roles in investment bank,
if u have to sell any financial product,
some typical IB related terms like risk mgmt,PMS and all.
typically they wanted to see how much focused i am on my future.

there is some mention of executive placements in the profile form and whether u will be ready to go anywhere in the country... is it for work ex people ... since i am a fresher does it apply to me...wat shld i write in there..

well to come over here and post my GD/ PI experience at
SIMSR.
Venue:Presidency college , Kolkata (15 March)
9.00 AM
I reached at the venue by 8.00 am. There were few guys waiting
and I think ,I went pretty early.There was a guy from BIT,Mesra (BCA) , with whom I had a bit of chit-chat.Soon we were joined by a 😉 cool gal.She was also from BIT-Mesra and c was working for TCS. Later on ,
we shared a good rapport and also roamed around Kolkata University.
To my horror, meanwhile I had dirtied my shirt. I had prespired a lot and was bit clumsy. Anyway, Initially we were told to register and sign up. Yours truly did a remarkable job and signed infront of other's name and was soon called for second time in next 5 minutes. When I heard my name called second time, I knew , my day had started with a
bang and I had it messed up.Anyway ,went smiling and signed again.We were divided in 6 grps and AFAIR , it was 14 each in grp.There was a gal from my college in grp so It wasn't that bad
.It was a case-study "Indian Saas bahu and soap operas " and we were told to give our POV asmonologue and believe me ,this was the only best opportunity we had.Later on , it was a fish market, all over India clubbed into 1. Anyway , I still enjoyed the process.
Nyway coming back to PI, I was ninth in my GD panel for Intvw process and so had to wait for a couple of hrs approx. There was a mid-aged lady and a mid-aged sir (my guess wud be :professors) .Sir was little fascinated about mathematics part and asked everyone certain maths questions. Some of the questions which I remember , courtesy 2 other students, Kremer's rule,nth root of diffnal eqns etc. Characters involved M (mam), S(sir) & yours truly (me) .
me: Gud mng sir ! Gud mng mam!
M: Gud mng! Take ur seat.
me: Thnk u mam !
M: Tell me sumthng abt u which is not written in profile ?
me: blah blah blah ( stress on family ,my upbringing ..etc etc)
M:Why do you say..simple and humble family..?
me:blah blah.
(Both looked convinced;))
S: What is your father's business?
me: mentioned..( explained it)
S: what is levy ?
me: Explained as per my knowledge
M: ok , why MBA ?
me: gave fundas & gyans...

M: who gave you a course on this
?me: Explained..justified.
M:Why dont you go for commn programs...MICA etc?
me: ( I had mentioned ..sumthng like it earlier) gave gyan...supported it..

me: Sir , applicn of fourier transform , laplace transform ,..differential eqns.
( didnt want to come to diffrnal eqn..had forgot everything and nvr
bothered to revise..nyway)
S: d'fal equns..Ok..here is a question ?(A definite integral ques was given and a graph was drawn and I
was asked to give a relation )
me: Explained it nicely.Took some time more and explained every things.

IMO...Executive placements are referred same as general placement..
so if u really do not have any issues with locations , fill it up...anywhere in India..
It shows flexibility ..and your career-oriented approach..

1)If you are a fresher, you can expect technical questions from your curriculum. However, if you have work experience you may very well expect questions from your domain of expertise.
2)Monologue gives you an opportunity to express your opinion about the topic and needless to say you need to express these opinions to both panelists and group members.
3)Since at Kolkata there was no problem regarding benches or writing pads I'm not sure of this query.

Yes, I expanded it as per my wish on MS word and avoided messing it up.
Don't know, whether that should have been done or not ??
But IMHO , since there was a space constraint , It is justified.

i reached the center around 12:30, the interview of previous batches were going on...
Around 2 PM then called us in a room, and started registration process..
documents verified are CAT Admit cards, score card and Profile form.
Then they started a presentation of SIMSR ("jai ho" song was included in it)...
then we were provided the essay topics ( we have to choose either of them)
1) should all citzens be trained for fight against terrorism
2) advertising is creating fake demand..
Time allotted was 15 minutes, but hardly 10 minutes was provided to us..
so guys do write fast...
after that we were moved in our GD Panel ( 10 People)...
case study : case on a driver who beats his wfe after drinking, and he employee of a company whose business is shipping. The manager has to check whether he drinks on job or not and what steps she should take
GD was good, started with monlogue , i was the first to start the monologue, then other followed. overall discussion was good and good points were raised

I appeared for the GD/PI process on 15th. To manage the space constraint I modified the form and typed all the entries. So basically, my form was entirely printed (including the columns and details which had to be filled). No one had any problem with it as they just stapled all the sheets together.
can u plz tell me are grls wearin coats there???/coz i wanna wear mine,but at imi i actually turnd out to be the only grl wearin a coat. due to hot weather........felt awkward

1>.Regarding executive placements , It has been answered in earlier thread. Refer some earlier posts.
2>.AFAI remember , girls did not turn up in coat at Kolkata centre since it was pretty hot . Its no point wearing ,when you are not comfortable yourself.
