you need not take a prinout of the call letter. Profile form should suffice. But it wont hurt to take a single prinout and be safe!

have been trying to read up on all the possible post here. Thanks for being so candid in your descriptions of your GDPI process. I however, haven't yet come accross any post which states the experience only for the PGDM (IB) course. Is it that the process is exactly the same for both courses?
What type of Essay & GD topics are asked for the IB course? Can anyone who's been through their GDPI for IB course, put up something here, if there's anything different asked. Looking forward to your replies.

Hey, I also had same problem. I have got CGPA in my graduation and Master degree and the application form converts them into percentage, which was wrong.
What I did was that I saved the 'student profile' page on system and opened it using MS Word. I edited the percentage to reflect the correct data. I also increased space for answering the questions(It was too less to write even a single line.)
Note-: This is what I did. However during interview the interview panel didn't even took notice that I have typed on the form instead of writing. Also, our percentage is already stored on their system. I don't know what they will do.
So take your call.

You are supposed to write just one specialisation. This is just to indicate your preference and it won't be binding on you to take that only during 2nd year. So don't worry. However be prepared to answer any question regarding your preference. They would like to know why you prefer that specialisation over others.

in my gd at bangalore v were given abt 15-20 minutes for d dicussion preceded by a 1 min monologue kinda thing
btw i think sch queries shud b posted in d kjsimsr call getters profile n gdpi dicussion thread....lets keep dis thread jus 4 d gd experiences...

GD/PI Experience for SIMSR PGDM - Kolkata 15 March 2009 9:00AM
Xth - 86.8%
XIIth - 76.8%
Grads (BE-CSE) - 66%
CAT 2008 - 97.17%ile
Work Experience - 11 months (IMS India Pvt. Ltd)
Reached the center and got myself registered. Documents which were verified during the registration are :
- Profile Sheet
- CAT Admit Card
- CAT Score card
It's quite surprising that no other documents were checked or even asked for during the whole length of the process.
This was followed by a nice presentation on SIMSR. It also involved a Q&A; session in which students could throw any questions to the faculty members regarding SIMSR, courses, placements etc.
Then came the written round. 15 min - 300 words limit with choice of topic from two options. I just remember one - Will the creation of new IIT's and IIM's affect the quality of these institutes? My advise for this section would be that Write fast. Structure your essay and cover all relevant points. Do NOT make any grammatical mistakes.
Once the written round is over, applicants were asked to proceed to GD halls as per the groups list which was being announced. Our GD featured 12 candidates I guess. All but me were freshers. I'd say a 50-50 distribution of males and females (highest I ve seen so far). Two moderators. Semi Circular arrangement. The process was like:
- Process was described - 2 min for reading the caselets, 1.5 min per candidate for presenting personal stand on the topic, 12 min to the group for discussing things out - one person to conclude.
- GD caselets and rough papers distributed
- Topic was Impact of Saas-Bahu soaps on Indian culture. The caselet also contained some sample points which could be discussed.
- Personal stands (in seating order) presented. I'd like to suggest that please do not exceed the given time limit. It becomes really awkward when you are speaking and someone abruptly asks you to shutup and continues to the next. Be crisp and clear.
- GD started. The group discussed wonderfully. Almost all the points were discussed amicably. The consensus also came in somewhere around the end of the 12 min. (Since the mod will say explicitly that please do NOT create a fish market - make sure that you speak and let others speak. Some neighbouring groups were creating so much ruckus that we were having a hard time hearing what our group mates were saying. A bad GD will seriously undermine selection chances)
PI began. While some panelists were calling applicants from groups in random order, our group was called in serially. It wasnt the same panelist group which had moderated our GD. I was number 8 so had to wait for some time before I was called in. Two panelists - Old prof (OP), Lady in Red (LR), Me
As soon as I got in I gave them my personal graphic design portfolio to have a look at. They looked at it, praised it and gave it back.
LR - Your designs are impressive. Why not go into advertising.
ME - Told that marketing is a broader specialization encompassing advertising and all.

LR - Tell me some days ago inflation was around 10%. Now its around 2%. Does it mean that the prices have fallen to a large extent?

My suggestions for interviews : prepare HR questions based on your profile sheet well. Freshers may expect technical questions. Working people may expect technical questions based on their work. Panelists are usually cool.
Freshers please do not create a fish market in the GD and be assertive about why MBA. All the Best.
