Ok... I find it a bit strange though, being in Trichy I think this institution would have the best possible access to BHEL, so I was under the impression that Operations would be a key area in BIM....
Hey dude i think you got it in the wrong sense. In BIM courses like Productions and Operations management, which is taught by top management people from BHEL and Operations Research are taught in the first year. And in the second year courses like Supply chain Management and Lean Enterprise for competitive Advantage (LECA) are offered as Operation electives. For LECA staff come from the CII. And apart from these, courses like ERP and B2B marketing which actually belong to different specialization in BIM but in other institute they are offered under operation. All these courses together will cover operation to a greater depth. Hence dont think that in BIM since operations is offered as a minor course the learning would be less. And coming to the placement, the companies Ucal, JSW Steel, Vedanta offered operations profile. And Infosys and HCL took people for the ERP division.
Regarding the paid internship thing, the experience was for 2 months just after finishing my B.Tech and certificate says I completed a full internship in the said period. Should I include that in my work ex ?

If you feel that those 2 months of your work experience had brought enough learning in you and if you feel it would be relevant then include. But i don't know to what extent it would actually help.
Seniors, I've got 82.23%ile in CAT with not so good acads and belong TN-BC category. Is there any realistic possibility of converting the call if I perform well in GD/PI. What is the weightage of CAT score in final conversion. Is there any student in current batch with such a low score.

2.Also I've not got any email confirmations from them.. is there an option of takin a printed copy of the app rather than taking a hand written one..

Normally there is no email confirmation . The letter sent would be your confirmation .Normally a courier service within TN would take only a day to deliver so ask your folks to mail it to chennai...I guess it can be managed ..Else you can contact the admission cell for any further help
The letter is dispatched through speed post...So there maybe some delays ...wait for another day and contact the admissions cell .

Dude! I dunno where are you getting these ideas from? You din't take the fact into cognizance that today's a Easter holiday here n there won't b any administrative staff to attend to and all what a caretaker can do is speak to you in a language he knows... Is it smthing to make such a fuss about? You can call them tomorrow and hopefully you'll find their accent along with their speech managable. Hope it helps

Actually i also faced the same problem..i have called on a working day and a person recieves the phone call at BIM who neither understands English nor hindi....it happens 6/10 times.But,4/10 times a lady picks up the call,and answers the call in a cool and calm manner clearing our doubts.:-o

At least I do have this much of general knowledge that it's a holiday.... I am talking about the day from which I applied to BIM, not today.... Each time someone picks up the phone, doesn't understand anything,, only says 'yes yes' or 'no no'..... Whatever tells that's in Tamil.. And I am not collecting ideas from different people, I am experiencing this difficulty continueously... Obviously I am gonig to try again tomorrow, But I dont think It'll be of any help..

we both share the same problem but the places r different. my form has gone to chennai but at present i m residing in coimbtre but no worries just call them tomo and tel your situation and add that u cant send it on time.they wil surely consider ur request.i did the same on thursday.

Thanx a lot for your suggestion.. I know this's a public forum and dont think I have used any wrong language... Because if I cant understand what he's saying, he can't understand what I am saying how'll I be able to communicate with him and how'll he help me... I have called 4-5 times since I filled the form for BIM, bt not a single time I have been able to understand him,,,
