hi ppl.
am just back from my GD/PI..my session is 17th april 2pm..reached BIM an hour earlier.we had to sign an attendance sheet at a lecture hall which was converted to waiting hall. the originals were verified. a consolidated marksheet is preferable. and then we had to wait for our chances at GD or PI which was gng simutaneously. the GD was conducted in another lecture hall nearby. there were two panels for PI. Mine(panel-II) had three panelists.one i recognised as the director of BIM and another a prof.the 3rd panelist was a young lady.i was asked to into myself and why i was gng for mba and nt pursuing career in field of study(comp.sci).and then the director asked my fav subjects and there were 2 technical questions frm tht subject. the other professor asked abt the intro of social audit in PDS in TN( ref: THe Hindu dated 17/04) and another abt a automobile merger ( ref: THe Hindu dated 16/04).overall it was a simple interview.
there were three group discussions.
the topics are:
1. Media and the Mind
2.Unity in diversity is a myth in india
3. Red

It is not a written assessment. They will ask us to summarize the points that we discussed in the GD 😃 I am not sure whether they will assess it or not.
Do they ask everyone in the PI abt the current events(i.e from newspaper)..Wat else are the questions asked in PI...are they asking depending upon wat we filled in the form..Answer out puys as quick as possible...

Well..it differs from person to person..there have been purely technical PIs to purely non-technical PIs..some PIs concenterated more on Work experience..few current affairs questions were also asked here and there .. be ready for everything..

Well.. Mine was 'Should IPL be banned? '.. was a cakewalk as u would know..

well they do ask abt current affairs and also about ur engineering project, if u r a fresher.They asked me names of different ministers(e.g agriculture,defence,minority affairs) during my interview last year.All the best puys for ur interview,make it tough for them to reject anyone. 
To add to what abhinav said.. they did ask ministers and all that and apart frm them they do ask questions on the budget.. sometimes GD topics may be from economic or financial angles or topics lik Demographic dividend..
PI be sure of ur UG project if ur a fresher .. and engineers be sure of the basics of ur course.. u myt be queried on tht..

I m done with GD/PI. Quite different from wat i expected.
Totally organised by faculty(surprised to see no students were involved). And they speak mostly in tamil. For a change a had my interview first and then GD. Interview was simple, if freasher they test Engineering subjects; if experienced jus work ex. Some had current affairs too. My GD was abstract, out of 8 only 3 of us spoke. And it was a bit difficult for 3 to speak for 20 min. We ran out of points and finally concluded. We had to write a summary of the GD which is the written assessment.
IMPORTANT: OBC certificate will not be accepted. Only BC community certificate with Tamil Nadu will be accepted. Also carry your CAT scorecard.

I checked the website it says 2 people will be sharing the quarters it is true or more people will be in the quarters

Ull be given a quarters (BHEL Type 2 quarters) to accomodate urself.. the quarters will have 2 bedrooms a hall and a kitchen.. The quarters wud be shared by 4 people.. 2 per room.. that makes it 4 in a house. It wud be spacious.. neat.. Hope ur queries reg the accomodation have been answered

Students were not involved because our trim exams jus got over and v have to report for our summer placements in our respective companies. Most of us have already joined.. U guys will get to see students once u have ur GD PI in Chennai.. wel try to make it there to meet u guys.. sorry tht we aren thr to help u out.. we have our summers going on

my interview is on 23 rd at 9 am at IFMR chennai ... by what time can i expect it to get over?? coz i have my train at 2 pm .. will i be able to make it ?? snrs pls reply.. TOI

It could be anything. It is a completely unstructured interview.. They start with a random question.(It could be based on ur graduation, current affairs, your work ex or anything else)... Then based on ur answer, they start with a question that is probably connected to what they'd asked you earlier. You will not feel the nerves once u r inside the room. Its like a nice lil chat 😃 ... When it comes to preparation, do prepare for the obvious HR questions like "Brif intro about yourself, Why so n so specialization?, Why leaving Engineering, Why did u quit the job, Why BIM, What are your expectations?" .. Etc. They may not directly ask you these questions, but such an introspection will help u in indirect ways..

dhanapal SaysDo anyone know the exact number of candidates shortlisted for the GD/PI. Last year it was 10 persons per seat. so totally 1200 were called. Wat about this year?? 1:5??!! :)
I did hear a number 924. Not confirmed though.
