Hi Puys..
As someone who has had a considerable experience in giving CAT and one who ran the operations of a coaching institute, I can give you a few details about BIM.
1) BIM is one of the most under-rated B-Schools in India. Had BIM been in Northern or Western part of our country, it would have received the attention it deserves.
2) BIM has been at the receiving end in almost all the B-School Ratings. With due respect to PG, let me remind U all that BIM was ranked 41st in the PAGALGUY ratings. U know who the respondents were. All of them were our fellow B-School aspirants. The mood of the aspirants alone CANNOT be used as a sole criterion for rating the Institutes. There are such parameters as
Age of the Institute, Its
Reputation,
Academic Rigour,
Quality of Teaching Staff, Achievements & Experience of the Proffs, Placements, Recruiters perspective, Alumni, etc., that need to taken into consideration.
3) Based on all these parameters, I can safely say that BIM will
SURELY find a place in the top 25 B-Schools in our Country. Infact BIM will occupy the
23rd or 24th place. Lots of Schools ahead of BIM in PG rankings (I do not want to name them here) are in
no way closer to BIM as far as quality is concerned.
4) BIM has been achieving
100 % placements since its inception. It is not an ordinary achievement by any means.
5) BIM enjoys a huge reputation in South India. After IIM-B and IIM-K I can think of no institute which is better than BIM. DOMS-IIT-Madras and TAPMI are close competitors in this regard. (Including ISB-Hyderabad in this list would be no less than an act of Blasphemy).
6) BIM has a strong ALUMNI network.
7) Quality of education is very good.
The above were the positives about BIM. But all is not Hunky-Dory. There are a few negatives too.
1) Industrial (or Business) Exposure could be low.
2) Trichy, as a location is not even half as exciting as Blore, Mumbai or Delhi.
3) Absence of heterogeneity. (Needless to say that an overwhelming majority of the students are from Tamil Nadu)
4) Infrastructure isnt very good. etc.,
P.S. Im not a self-appointed ambassador of BIM. Im jus one among many students who are waitlisted by it.
