ya..shining star...you really hv a solid reason...all the best..is there anyone else who has received such feedback...or a hint of doing well..
Today's gd was fun ..those who were with me would agree :P..hehe..pehle aap pehle aap mein meri train choot gayi 😁 :P..but interview went fine :)...panelists were really nice ..the whole experience was wonderful 😃 ....and my love for TISS has only increased :D..... :)...
Tomorrow is the last day..and don't worry about your PI! Just be yourself :D..you may or maynot be asked the general questions i.e. why hr..why tiss..etc..
ATB to all puys!
when r the end results due? butterflies in my stomach, TISS is a nice place to be.
gd pi exp 20-03-2010
gd was a case study on organizational dilemma.....women are performing better than men in a bpo..data entry job...profitability is higher if only women are hired...the hr head thinks it is unfair to recruit women only...what should he do..?
pi---panel 3...m1,m2,m3(was checking the daf continuously)
1.insights on rural india..m1
2. hr head of future group...m2
3. do you know about a post that only future group has? was not aware...its chief belief officer.m2
4.organizational structure at future group...m2
5.told to elaborate on that..m2
6.why not work n gain exp?..m2
7.why shift from a diff field to hr?...m2
8. which is more difficult to manage..top mgmt or people working on the shop floor?...m2
did not manage top mgmt..always thought them to b the most difficult to manage as ego probs usually crop up...the shop floor guy i have managed without any difficulty...they only need to b shown a clear path..i think they wanted to hear that shop floor guys are more difficult to handle...
9. then how does an organisation function efficiently..?..m2
10. if this is the problem..how will you go about solving?..m2
m2 asked m1 ..if he had any questions?...he politely refused..
If any of you guys have the names of the faculty in panel 3 on 20th march ..pls let me know...or only their profile will do..need to know if someone from social work was present.
I dont think that you should be disheartened, at the end of the day always remember that the panelists are extremely experienced in this field, and they get know you the moment they see, or maybe in the first two to three minutes...do not worry i feel you have done well bro...
kuddos
just wait for the Good Tidings
White_Snow Sayswhen r the end results due? butterflies in my stomach, TISS is a nice place to be.

Guys i do not have high hopes... but just keeping my fingers crossed. Let's hope for the best. It was a very cool panel and yes of course a perfect place.
Also there are a million other things that get counted and you never know what is it that gives you an edge over others or to them over you.:)
Good Luck
@puys,
Think intvws are over....Hope most of have had a decent performance....nyway ATB to all of u ppl....
@seniors,
first of all we will thank u all for assisting in clearing our doubts during GD/PI process...
I know its very early to ask such a ques....I would like to knw whether students from HRM batch are eligible for exchange programmes from foreign universities...and if eligible, did any of the seniors go to any foriegn insititutes...
Here's my experience :
9 am batch on the 20th
My case study centered around 2 female employees and their manager working in a mfg firm. The older lady was trying to make unwanted advances towards younger girl, according to her. 8 people in our batch with 2 girls, one of whom used the L word
Other than that, a fairly decent discussion where everyone chipped in.
My PI was strange. I finished my grad by correspondence so they were hell-bent on making me acknowledge that i couldn't take tiss' rigorous acads, but i didnt back-off. Other than a few current affairs questions, all of my pi centered on this. Keeping my fingers crossed untill the results.
Hey i was in ur gd group...had started teh discussion...so hw did ur pi go?
Yes, Students from HRM & LR are eligible for the foreign exchange programs - from my batch, 1 person went to Amsterdam and the other two to Germany (Muenster)
And yes I agree, maybe some seniors did not contribute enough (for whatever reasons)

can seniors share their expereinces abt their pi thing...i mean many of us had 10 min thing..how can judgement mwe made on it...or was it just 10 min n prove ur self..then n there... 😞
Regarding Interviews - there is no correlation between the time you spend in the interview and you getting selected. I myself had a 10 minute interview
Interview is one of the components in the selection process and an important one but TISS also looks at your academic record, profile, written test scores and GD scores.
Having said that, even in a 10 or 15 minute interview, the kind of answers you give are a strong indicator to the panel of your aptitude and fit for the course.
I agree you might think a 10 minute is not fair and enough to judge someone but the way some companies hire candidates is no better (another area where HR needs to improve)
This time, the process was conducted really well with around 600 candidates called over a period of 1 week. During my time, we had 3000+ calls and you can imagine how the process must have been :)
TISS has been working on it's selection process to make it more robust and get the 'right' students. They wouldn't want to miss out on good students and hire wrong people. A bad hire can be costly for any institute, just like it is for any organization.
All the best for your results ! hope for the best !
Cheers

Maybe the seniors did not help aspirants enough on the thread. But I assure you that they were really generous with their guidance at GDPI time, in person. 😃 I remember soliciting the opinion of at least 5 seniors for some of the answers I was planning to give in the interview and then finetuning them according to their suggestions. 😃 I do not remember all the names but everyone who was in the Kumarappa lecture hall was extremely supportive. They tried to relax us to the best of their abilities and I think that helped a lot, at least in my case. 😃 Whether the results prove the same thing or not is a different matter altogether.

From this year, we have discontinued allotting marks for academic background of a candidate and will only be considering it for eligibility purposes. This is because the disparity in marking schemes between different examination boards makes it difficult standardize the marks of various candidates.
- Dr. Sasmita Palo, Chairperson, Centre for Human Resource Management and Labour Relations
This is the source - Academic background will serve only as an eligibility criterion for MA in HRM & LR from 2009: Sasmita Palo, TISS | PaGaLGuY.com - Indias biggest website for MBA in India, International MBA, CAT, XAT, SNAP, MAT
Has the criteria been changed or is it according to the link I posted? Please clarify. :)
Thanks and Regards

The application brouchure for this year also says that for shortlisting final students criteria that will be used is
70 marks written test. 30 marks GD and 70 marks interview total of 170
till last yr it was
70 marks written test. 30 marks GD and 75 marks interview and 25 acads.
so i dont think they will be giving additional weightage for acads this yr but you never know if 2 candidates end up with the same marks then acads might come into play.

Oh god! This anticipation is worse than what we were going through before the GD-PI

29 days still left for the final results.
I hope the results are worth the wait:)
is there any official date 4 declaration of result..any official news
abdullko Saysis there any official date 4 declaration of result..any official news
20th April as per the brochure.
Ok, My bad ..
The Acads will be used only for eligibility as Palo Ma'am has said and pointed out above.
Acads were used as an input during my time but maybe from this year, the rules and scoring system has changed to only look at Written Test, GD and Interview scores. The final score will be the sum of these and used to select candidates.

helo all,
This is my experience, last gd pi batch at 10 am on 21st.
Ours was the last batch for the GD.
moderators: 2 gents and a lady
Topic: Case study: Japanese maker in india, anthem placing profession above personal things, some news about high suicide rates linked to work stress doing rounds in company
People: 5 guys and 3 gals
Process: started as a fish market (my opinion), with no one being able to speak clearly. took the lead and asked for some order, everyone agreed and i started off, think i ve done a decent job, finally one smart lady concluded in style. I wonder if i was agressive when trying to bring in some order in the group.
PI: Mostly on work ex and my future goals. Indirectly on why hr and tiss. Was cornered several times. though i defended well again i think i was agressive in defending.
I shud make it..still Fingers crossed!
