Clear the cut-offs and come for the interview, XLRI is completely transparent about its process.

Hello seniors, as we have around 1-1.5 months after CAT, most of our preparation would start only after CAT. My question is can you name some areas which need a little more preparation. Like FMS needs a good command over Vocab which cannot be developed in 1 or 2 months. Are there any such topics which XAT tests us

please tell that how i should be preparing for the critical reasoning part.thats the only portion in verbal that troubles me a lot.nine out of ten times i get it wrong.please tell me how i should prepare for it and what should be my approach towards the questions.are there any suggested books or resource to practise from or should i practise from last few years paper.

i am focusing on BM only as i do not want to enter into HR domain....is this ok or m i making a mistake by deciding not to fill PMIR ??
i am a fresher...pursuing chemical engineering....

Just fill the form and try to get a call and then try to convert it.. you can decide about joining or not joining later on .. trust me .. this might be the best advice you ever got 😁

i think lr section is not so tough but u have to read question many times
(got 95 perc in lr)

in xat some VA single qs have one whole para.so how to deal with those or leave it?

what was the sectional cutoff percentile in each section for getting a call from xlri for the last 2 years,and also tell the overall cutoff.

Are you talking about verbal or LR/DI?

If its verbal you are talking about -I think it depends on you..if your reading and comprehending speed is gud then you can go for these type of questions.who knows that single question might just get you through to XLRI or XIMB.:-o
But if its 2 long then i think its better to leave it.

And if its LR/DI you are talking about my advice would be 2 leave it and come back to it later if you have time..

Ofcourse it also depends on which is your strong area.If the ques belongs to a section you are strong in it would be wise to come back to it later after going through the whole paper once..

Believe me the LR/Di section was definitrely tough. I got an abysmal 49.xx in LR/DI despite having an overall %ile of 95.xx was shattered after I saw my results cos I was always quite good in LR/DI.

ever since i came across the 1st xat paper the decision making section seemed to me very queer and even today i dont hav clue how to takle it first i thought the xat writers expect us only to attempt lr but then when i read opinion of other peole in rare articles covering a feature on xat they say that dm is actually very easy and then strangely it is never discussed in any magazines or forums what shud i keep in mind while attemptin them the risk of gettin a wrong answer is too high

You will find lots of GMAT prep groups,there people wud have added questions and would be discussing approaches,do that it would be good start.Books are there but they are for GMAT.

I wud suggest after going through approaches attempt previous XAT papers.

See for the LR section you need to practise just one thing, i.e. logical reasoning caselet. And just don't falter there, the ones which come in XAT are solvable. Just practise a lot of those caselets. And the decision makin questions, just go for the answers which look noble and have a sacrificial attitude for the society. It will give you good hit rate in those questions peratining ethical dilemma questions. Hope it answers ur query 😃

That it is without a doubt .However,at XLRI PMIR course is far more than only HR.One of the prime reasons that make it best.

Add to that,the profile and respect the XLRI folks get in the Industry(Market/Corporate) is unmatchable.Though it is not situated in the prime location but then the Learning and Peer group is something which can give any IIMs a run for the money. XLRI(Jamshedpur) is surely a place to be.
Being originally from jamshedpur(born and brought up),I have a lot of respect for XL guys!!

Can the seniors throw some light on last year's individual and overall cutoff???

Last year my breakup was :

Qa 94.XX
Lr/Di 99.XX
Va 69.XX

OA 97.XX

Definitely VA ditched me....
