seniors please answer.. is it mandatory to live in hostel in SIBM??? i mean if i have home just 10km away, have a car, and also a wife. i find no logic to stay in hostel. i have waiting 5, which is going to convert anyway.
I completely understand your plight sir... But I regret to inform you that the MBA programme offered at SIBM Pune is a fully residential one with mandatory on campus hostel stay... You might find this to be a bit against your liking or convenience but this is just how things are... Your sentiments are echoed by a few married folks in the current 2 batches but couldn't be helped in their case either... Hope you sort out your situation...
P.S. Plus there is NO FACILITY for spousal stay on campus (in case that was going to be your next question)

Does the 'dr' in your PG ID stand for Doctor?? If yes, than yaay!! Doctor in my batch!
Also, you could take us to your home on weekends for lunch or whatever 😁 Just 10 kms away 😁
When are we to select our specialization? Can someone give me some idea about an MBA in operations from SIBM Pune, like the future prospects, the companies who come for recruitment and the role and avg compensations they offer. Moreover the IT companies and the Consulting firms prefer which specializations?

Seniors plz reply.
You will be expected to select your specialization within 45 days of the commencement of the course. You will be given ample materials to study and enough background knowledge plus mentorship assistance to help you along the way.
MBA is Operations is pretty good here at SIBM Pune. Since the operations batches are generally small in size due to the niche-ness of the domain, the prospects are really very bright in that regard. Every company, immaterial of the sector will be needing process improvement personnel and SCM managers to carve out a product differentiation and hence the demand for Ops Managers. Companies which come for recruitment for Ops are reflected very well in our detailed annual placement reports. Please have a look at it... more or less every co. other than a BFSI recruits Ops folks. Roles differ from Supply chain - process flow improvement - 6 sigma implementation etc.... we get ALL the profiles that any contemporary college can... Avg. package is the same as every other dept at around 10-11 lacs per annum.
Consulting companies and IT firms prefer marketing and operations in general. But if the domain of that consulting firm is restricted to a particular specialization then the scenario changes. But in general those two depts. are given somewhat of a preference.
hey shourya, i wrote to the admissions office as well but I havn't got the complete fee structure which is essential to apply for a loan.. can you please help me out here?

Hii shourya....By when do we have to submit our complete degree certificates at SIBM...I just got a reappear in 7th sem......:banghead::banghead:
You are expected to have your documents with you when you come for the commencement of the program... If for any reason you do not have all proper documentations.... you will given upto end august to procure the same failing which your admission MIGHT stand cancelled... So make sure all your docs are well in place before then...
what fee refund??? I have never heard anyone's admission being cancelled as everyone produces their document on time.... So cant comment as to what will happen to your fee in such dire circumstances...

All the best!! Cheers!!
I think in the case where proper documents are not submitted or candidate not able to produce it n time, then the candidature gets cancelled and fees are refunded after cutting off a proportionate amount...this is what is mentioned in the docs provided with the call

Shourya--although i am a bit inclined towards finance(although no idea about it), but consulting is one domain where i would like to go afterwards...i am from IT background(2+ years of exp in infosys)...will it be better if i go in operations and in that case will i get a chance in niche consulting companies with it background like accenture, deloitte etc? Or if i opt for finance then also will i have a chance of getting into these consulting companies(no idea bout companies like Ernst and young, pwc(may be finance ppl go here??)). It would be very helpful if you could throw some light on this. Thanks

Once we join is it mandatory for us to buy a laptop from the college(as few colleges mandate it) or we can use our personal ones.
Do we need to pay anything apart from the semester fees for e.g. Library, Uniform, Medical, Gym etc? Or is it included in it?
While filling the form I have mentioned my best 5 (ICSE) and best 4 (ISC) marks as most of the people from ICSE boards do (as far as I know) . Can it cause problems for me after I join?

Seniors awaiting ur replies...
No the institute does not have anything to do with the procurement of Laptop for students. you have to buy your own laptop. Everything(food, hostel, uniform, books, outbound trips) is included in the fees only. So do not worry on that front.:) About ICSE board I have no idea as I from CBSE ,but my bro and sis were in ICSE and I think the best 5 or 4 is an accepted norm. But better take the opinion of a ICSE student. Regards Saurabh Suman

No its perfectly fine... CISCE has specified that as a rule..It is the accepted norm that we all followed when we were in your position... do not worry about such trivial stuffs now...
