Thats true... They were showing result in the oldformat till noon... And all of a sudden new format... Huh!! Wonder what it signifies!!
Yup its the email stage.
I dont know why everyone has given up hope. We are still waiting for the results of some good colleges(FMS, JB, IITs and the new IIMs) and there are ppl who might be waitlisted in the other good ones.
PS - am waitlisted @ 19
Dude, here's why I have given up hope - 4 IIMs released their results before this movement. And the change is a measly 5. Just 5! From 4 IIMs! Now we wait for the results of relatively unimportant IIMs and FMS. And I need a movement of at least 9! I doubt that will happen, even if we were to add small contributions from SP Jain seat increase and left-overs from MDI results.
Even if it does happen, there is nothing that gives me hope of it happening, given the circumstances.

I just hope we both make it.... every guy I met said that a convert is for sure but now I too begin to doubt if that is going to happen
They should not have declared such huge waitlist .
hallelujah666 SaysSince there is an official notification on IIM K's site that the results will be declared by the 4th of May, I am assuming the results will appear in the last week i.e after 28th of April. Since the new 6 IIMs are somehow linked to IIM K I am again assuming they will only reveal their results in the last week. What remains is LIS results but Shillong generally takes time. Since Indore took time to bring out its GDPI list, I am assuming they will also announce their results in the last week. Hopefully L will announce its results soon enough. Going by so many assumptions, I believe the list on the 22nd will also not have a considerable amount of movement but yes it definitely will move a notch owing to cancellations for ABC,TISS etc. Then again, these are all based on my personal opinions. One thing which I am really sure about though is that the list after the 22nd will surely see many of us go through.ATB.
Well turns out that my prediction wasn't bad. Now, as the link to check the wait-list status has been removed although is directly accessible if the URL is known suggests that it will not be working in a few days. And even if it is does work, the status would not get updated. Which means, we will only be sent mails once we clear the wait-list. Bad news since the anxiety will increase even more for the students. Good news is, like I said the coming two weeks are going to be the deciding elements in the admission procedure. With the waitlist movements in other IIMs, IIM K and I yet to declare their results (IIM K will probably declare their results by the 29th). The new 6 IIMs would also release their results soon(in the coming two weeks) giving a whole new opening and clearance to those in doubt. XLRI, MDI are already out with their results. All of these would definitely make a good movement this time and will see us through in the coming two weeks . Well, two weeks is not that long a wait. Then again, these are all based on my personal views and opinions. ATB.
I'm presenting a VERY optimistic picture here -
(Assuming that one has to send the hardcopy of cancellation form to SIBM by post)
- IIM-A PGP and IIM-L results came on 16th. So MAYBE some people who converted IIM-A or L couldn't send the cancellation form before 22nd.
- It's unlikely that XLRI and MDI results, which were declared only a couple of days ago, were reflected in today's movement.
- S. P. Jain waitlist movement due to increased intake happened late on 18th. So it's unlikely that it was reflected in today's movement.
- IIM-I, IIM-S, IIM-K, new IIMs, FMS, JBIMS final results are still awaited.
So, considering this best case scenario, waitlisted people still have some hope...
Here's something I don't understand though. Does SIBM always send a mail immediately after a wait-listed person converts?
Because in case it doesn't, this turn of the events is weird to say the least. The movement of 5 in the wait-list can be seen only by a person who uses this forum or knows the login link which was available on the website.
That link has not been posted on the SIBM website, and those who contacted the admin were all told that the result will come by individual mail. So how does a person who doesn't know about the link beforehand come to know that he has converted? (Of course, that is assuming that SIBM doesn't send an individual mail to every single convert).
Regardless, no institute should do something like this. All of us would have actually stayed in the dark or made wrong decisions based on this incomplete information, if one of us hadn't checked the link out on a whim!!!

Then why they have removed the waitlist link when large waitlist movement is expected considering the above points.
I guess they are also aware of the above scenarios.

no use speculating.............yet we should probably keep calling the admissions office regularly and keep each other updated.:)
waitlisted 9...
Hey everyone! I think we should all stay vigilant and keep each other informed if we get individual mails from SIBM... this will greatly help ease anxiety among the wailisted, myself included. Also if anybody comes to find out that there is a date for the next list then please share the information with the rest. Also if there are any people who were not in the waitlist but get individual mails then please share the news... In my opinion the mailing of individuals is premature as the waitlist has not been exhausted... so it's only logical that SIBM sticks to the original way of informing candidates (through the college website) but this is just my take on it.
What about the students who got selected today.
Did they received the mail.

il find a way.....

Ok there are a lot of speculations going around in your heads, so lets try and lay a few of them to rest.
1) W/L movement : Yes the last one of only 6 (there were 2 ppl on w/l #1) is a bit shocking so late in the process. This just means that not many were able to convert A,B,C from the selected students
OR
If ppl have converted, then they haven't yet applied for cancellation (apparently basking in the glory currently)
Effectively only these 3 colleges have been counted in the last movement as MDI and XL results were out only a few days back and AM SURE the concerned students haven't acted fast enough
So if these movements are to be taken into consideration then we have to wait for the next movement
2) Publishing movement on the website : Like the previous years, the top 50 movement was accounted in the website as the 1st list only had those many numbers, people after that were called on personally by e-mail and snail mail as they were not given initial waitlist numbers.
Seems like even though they have published a bigger waitlist, they are sticking to the age old norm.
Look at it this way, atleast now you know that you are waitlisted in x no. (atleast till 110)... previously ppl had to call up personally to get to know that and still there was no confirmation. Take this as a positive sign please.
3) Losing faith in SIBM-P : I saw quite a few of you started to question the morality of the institution that I passed out from just because they stopped publishing the list online.
Guyz this time you atleast know your waitlist no. before hand unlike last years.. so take this as a mark of improvement in transparency rather than questioning it.
DO NOT LOSE HOPE FELLAS.... This is not the time to do so..
Many of you might have other converts and many might not. But the fact of the matter is, as more top notch colleges publish their results, the w/l WILL MOVE. Timing might differ due to the response of cancellation.
If the institute has published a list of waitlisted students that go till 110 that means they expect the no. to move that far. Going by previous years' trends, movement till 90 odd is almost a certainty.
So hang in there folks. Be a little more patient. Already 2.5 months since the publication of results, a few more weeks wont hurt.
All the best!!
Cheers!!
A well-wisher!!

Yes, and the person from admissions department whom I talked with said that the next list would be out sometime in May first week. But again he didn't seem to know much about it. So let's hope that they stick to the current method.
