[2012] Ask ISB Hyderabad/Mohali: Admissions Director AM Kannan answers admission-related questions

@Rahul-12 said: Dear Mr Kannan, I have following queries on the 'Awards & Activities' section of PGP online application: a. Can an 'Outstanding' annual appraisal rating be mentioned an award? b. Can an 'out of turn promotion' be mentioned as an award. Thanks for your inputs, Rahul
Both items should be included in essays or employment details section. If necessary you can use your essays to provide more information pertaining to the appraisal &/or promotion.

First of all, thank you so much for your kind help on this thread.
I was not aware that one has to enter the work experience until March 31, 2013 and I actually calculated my work experience until today, while creating my account on the application portal. Is there a way this can be reverted? or should I just create another account with a different email ID?
No need to worry on this. Once you fill in the employment details section with times, the correct years of workex will be calculated automatically by our application.

@ISB.Admissions Sir...I have asked them but have got no reply..yes sir i can apply in 3rd year as i have just entered in third year...but the problem is with degree....I will get it by the end of 5th year..is that okay ????
For YLP, you can apply in your 3rd year, i.e., in your specific case now.

@ISB.Admissions Dear sir, my name is S.Vivek Menon. My name consists of an initial which is there in all my college and school mark sheet . But since the passport does not allow any initials , the name in my passport as well as GMAT scorecard is Vivek Menon. Will this anyway be a problem when you are considering my application?

You should not have any problem as it seems that your identity is verifiable using your passport.

Dear Sir,

if I fail to submit the application within the Round 1 deadline, will my application be automatically considered for Round 2?

Thanks so much

Thanks so much
You can submit your application by either of the deadlines using same login information for this year. You must however remember to complete and submit, as incomplete or unsubmitted applications will not be considered.

Mr Kannan,

A few doubts -
1. For students who took the GMAT after Jun 5th, will the IR scores be considered?
2. For any gap in education, is a very detailed explanation expected?

Thanks again for taking the time out to help us!

Dear Mr. Kannan,

While filling up the Personal details, there is an option to enter the applicant's middle name but there is no text field wherein Father's middle name is to be entered. Kindly suggest a format in which I can mention my Father's middle name.

Thanks.

1. IR scores will not be considered for this year's class.
2. Only brief information on any gaps in education is required.

You can use the first name or last name field to include parent's middle name.

Dear Sir,

Thanks for your effort. I have a question related to the Gross salary and CTC. My company recently changed the structure of the offer letter by removing Bonus and transport allowances from it. Though they would continue to be coming as part of my monthly salary.

ISB is asking for first as well as current salaries. In my case the current salary mentioned becomes less than what was earlier stated in the first offer letter. Do you have any suggestions.

- Gross - can remain what you draw on a regular basis.
- CTC - can include the variables/incentives that you had drawn as of 31 Mar, 2012
- Please include a typed statement about the change in structure & its CTC implications, in addition to the salary slip.

Thank you sir for your reply. I have another doubt.

If I want to add a slide to my video and because of that, I am not visible for some 6-9 seconds out of 90 secs, will it be considered a violation of the rules set by admission committee ?

regards.

This is acceptable. If you feel you need to include any additional visuals, props, views, etc to help your video essay and to make your point - that is most welcome. However, any creativity should be integrated into our overall video essay. You are not required to be visible for the entire video essay.

Dear sir

i have 9 years of experience, but not working right now.instead of salary slip, can i upload my experience certificate showing my last drawn salary.

Dear Sir, Could you please explain more about what you are looking for in the recommendations, also especially since you request two of them? What is the significance and is it ok if we choose persons other than the current supervisor as evaluators? (in case when association with current supervisor is very short or not for a considerable time)

@ISB.Admissions
Sir,
I have finished my Btech and I am working in an IT company. At present I am undergoing one year training, will the training be counted for work experience?
Thank you

You can upload your last drawn salary slip or Income Tax return. We cannot consider a salary certificate.

Your evaluation can be from a previously worked organization, current or previous supervisor/manager at current work or previous work, a professional mentor, a senior colleague.

Evaluators have had a unique opportunity to interact with you professionally over a period of time when their professional performance & appraisal was based on the applicant's work performance. The objective of evaluations is to understand the evaluator's perspective on the strengths and weaknesses of the applicant, experiences, learning, leadership potential/abilities, scope for improvement in specific areas, achievements and career growth. However, while the evaluations are one of several important components into your overall application, it is not the only one, and our admissions committee takes into account other aspects of your candidature to reach a final decision.
