[2013-2015] BITS Pilani, MBA Admission Queries (Now from CAT)

@prashanthrpk :Thanks.

If you have any other questions, clarifications keep asking us. Thanks.

@prashanthrpk its understandable tht u cant comment on avg package offered as placement process of 11-13 batch is going on. bt can u plz giv us jus a rough figure( nt asking exact, jus a rough estimate).. and wat vl b appx cutoff(general) : vl it b 94+ like most iits r vl it b lil lower?
@knight-fury There is no general cutoffs, No reservation system is being followed in BITS Pilani. I Can't say whether it would be 94 plus or something, as BITS admission process closes in dec, whereas iit's will start only after CAT results are available.
So BITS might give a profile based calls is my guess[Not Sure though]. This is also the first time BITS is going through CAT, so predicting the cutoffs is very very tough.
If you think you have done your CAT well, just apply, you will get a call.
And regarding the placements, institution policy is that students of BITS shouldn't refer or post anything regarding the placement statistics.
I can understand your worries, we too faced the same problem last year during our admission. I can tell you in writing this is BITS Pilani so dont worry about placement. You get to sit at companies like Mckinsey, Credit suisse, Captial iq, JPMC, Goldman sachs, Aditya birla group, Idea cellular and you have excellent chances to convert them.
Anyway I will ask my Dept HOD, if i can give you the placement details of 2010-2012 batch. i mean the rough figures which you are asking and will revert back to you asap.

Thanks, and any other queries pls shoot here.
@prashanthrpk i m looking forward 2 do specialization in operations and wat to grow my career as a manager in industrial sector.., i heard tht the best institute to pursue operation management is iits.. how gud is operations in BITS? and wat kinda jobs r being offered to operation guys in BITS..?
@knight-fury , Here Engineering and Technology Management Specilisation is being offered, which technically means operations specilisation.
And regarding Placements for operations specilisation- Aditya Birla Group recruit for IT operations, Elecon Group as assistant manager Ops, and TCS in IT operations.
Regarding Operations specilisation in BITS; BITS has some of the best faculty for operations. So you can very well apply to BITS. Here Faculty from Mechanical engineering as well as Management Group will take Operations electives for you.
Any other Queries, feel free to ask
@prashanthrpk well, thank u sir for ur replies.. 😃 i think bits pilani is jus the kinda institute i m looking for..
@knight-fury All the best, and don't need to mention me sir. Call me prashanth.

Hi aspirants,

Facebook Page of the department - http://www.facebook.com/pages/MBA-at-BITS/116790345009939

Facebook page of the Deparment's Management Magazine- http://www.facebook.com/bitsreflexionar

Facebook Page of our upcoming Management Fest Interface'13- http://www.facebook.com/bitsinterface?fref=ts

Good to see that the profile would have some weightage in BITS, otherwise for CAT tests, it is really difficult for me to assume any specific percentile.

Anyway, BITS curriculum and class profile looks good. I mean its a good mix of students of different fields and different work ex group. Very similar to Global MBA institutions.
Lets try for the best.
I am planning to apply

Paste one photograph in the application form and second photograph in a separate envelope is wriiten in the enclosure

do we need to keep a separate envelope cover anda photograph inside it ?

Yes. You are right. Have to it that way. Put the other photo inside the envelope and slid it in the enclosure.

Please post your queries here. Its easy for us to moderate since many queries you PM seek redundant info. Thanks.

@prashanthrpk

After going through the thread of last year it says the lowest pkg was 5.5 lacs and JPMC offered

a pkg of 7 lacs, after completing BTech with 2 years of work ex if such pkg are justfied in clgs like BITS Pilani infact JPC offers a pkg of 10 for b-tech from IITs how BITS MBA is better

2ndly BIT Mesra , NIT trichy , Nit suratkal ,Jadavpur,IM Dhanbad,VIT these are also very reputed name as far b-tech is considered but they are not good for MBA

@prashanthrpk

why BITS Pilani si not disclosing placements as it is mandatory under RTI to disclose placement details , So it will be much helpful if you guide us in rt way we will be really obliged

as it is very tough to gather infom'n' about bits MBA ,so share the details as much as possible

@prashanthrpk

Please suggest what are the PSUs or Govt banks are coming and what is be the rough figure of pakage offered by them?

Hi Puys please see this link http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/cat-and-related-bschools/2012-bits-pilani-mba-t-72597/p-2961356?page=3

It says that the average pkg last year was 6.5 and highest was 7.5 by one of BITS student

@vikash27 - If you find it feasible to question a deemed university about its placements under the ambit of RTI..you may do so.
As far as placements are concerned, every branch, be it B.Tech/MBA/Humanities/Pharma, BITS never discloses its packages, though an internal circulation pdf is sent across to every one prior to placements season. You need not tell us what packages are offered here, but yes, please question the person about the average package he arrived at. Coz frankly, that is a news for us too. Highest package, well buddy for the 2012 batch if you want to know- Marketing it was highest by Johnson and Johnson- 11.5 p.a. I can name few here as well, but that was just to make point. I dont say we compete with league of IIMs and SP Jains.
But the quality of faculty we have is definitely comparable.
UCO bank is a regular here, as far as public banks are concerned.
And there technical colleges offering management courses which are successful - IIT-M, IIT-B, IIT-D. But barring these three, check all rankings and get back- is any other IIT beating BITS Pilani??? That is the case when we don't go for CAT.
Dude, BITS doesn't opt for reservation candidates- that is the USP! You have it---you get it.
Can any of the top 20 institutes claim that? We have a nominal batch strength, but trust me, on quality intake---no compromise!
@vikash27 hope venkat has answered your doubts. One thing, averages are not calculated accurately here. Highest package offered to 2010-2012 batch was 11.5 LPA. and lowest offered was 4.5LPA. lowest accepted was 6LPA.

Regarding JPMC packages, its not 5.5LPA as you mentioned. Regarding the RTI and placements, There is a CTC wise break up of the accepted and offered packages in BITS website.
