Work-Ex - Nil :w00t:
Batch of Interview - 6th March 2013, 8.30 a.m. Location: GIM Campus, Goa
GD Topic - In today's world of business, Is being ethical a liability?

Experience -
First, and foremost, what a campus!! :w00t: It's like a dream come true for nature loving people. Calm, serene, on a remote hill, away from the hustle bustle of the outside world. If u wanna spend ur two years in heaven, this is THE place to be. Added to that, top notch infrastructure, and well maintained campus, makes this a really cool place to study at. For all those of u who have a double-mind about GIM- If possible, do visit the place once before u decide upon ur MBA future. If not anything, u will fall in love with the campus and its surroundings (apart from the best part that it is in goa πŸ˜› )..

Coming to the gd-pi process, it's the same process as mentioned by earlier candidates. There were about 10 ppl each allocated to 3 different panels, and 2 sessions. (morning 8.30 and afternoon 1.30) That's around 60-70 students called for today (i guess).

Mine was Panel-3 consisting of:
Divya Singhal ma'am- http://gim.ac.in/gim_faculty_profile.php?facid=9
Fernanda Andrade ma'am- http://gim.ac.in/gim_faculty_profile.php?facid=107
Vithal S. Sukhathankar Sir- http://gim.ac.in/gim_faculty_profile.php?facid=18

Gd was fine (not fish market) and mostly, everyone got a chance to pitch in. But since the topic was not one of a large amount of discussion, the panel stopped it soon at around 8-9 mins.. This was followed by an essay on a sheet provided by them. Then u are made to wait for ur interview call.

PI -
The same panel sits for the PI. It is according to the no. that has been alloted to u at the start of the gd-pi process.
My interview started off with tell me about urself, hobbies, family, etc. and some more discussions on it.
Then sir asked me about technical questions (i told him that electronics was not a strong hold of mine, but i am good at communication part) So he asked me around 7-8 questions, on wifi, bluetooth, mobile networks, gsm (2g,3g,4g) advantages, drawbacks, differences etc.
Asked about strenghts, and Then came the question why gim, and why did u not work for some years and then apply. Answered and discussed some more about it.
And finally asked if i have any questions for them.
Total interview was of around 15 mins. The interviewers were very relaxed and cool. The hr questions were asked mostly by the two ma'ams and the technical stuff by the sir.

Overall interview experience was fine. But the view from the campus, and the surroundings made my day.. 😁

Have uploaded a couple of pics of the campus.. :D

Campus-
Gave a feeling of belonging rather than a new venture
Felt a welcome hug when stepped into the campus
On visiting the Campus, I realized how essential it is to understand and experience the Campus atmosphere in person before calling in for a decision about the institute. This campus has a "A" grading from my side

Prior to GD session-
There were 3 different panels with each panel consisting of students around 10 , and 2 sessions. (morning 8.30 and afternoon 1.30).

I was in panel 3 along with 8 other students apart from me.There were 7 boys and 2 girls(one of which was myself)

The Panel-3 comprised of
Divya Singhal ma'am- http://gim.ac.in/gim_faculty_profile.php?facid=9
Fernanda Andrade ma'am- http://gim.ac.in/gim_faculty_profile.php?facid=107
Vithal S.Sukhathankar Sir- http://gim.ac.in/gim_faculty_profile.php?facid=18

The panel had an interactive discussion on GIM and other aspects making us feel comfortable. The panel also mentioned about Pagalguy .We had an alumini of GIM over to our GD room for sharing his experiences and I found it to be recharging and helpful in understanding how GIM is supportive to their students.

GD-

Gd started off with a few minutes allocated for writing down what we have in mind to speak.
Then each one was given a chance for about 1-2 mins initially to spell out a few words on the GD topic.
Then the forum was opened for discussion. Our GD group didn't result into a fish market.Had a pretty good platform for everyone to at least speak once. But at later time topic got saturated and the discussion stopped in 8-9 mins.We all were again given a chance to conclude individually for 1-2 mins. Then we had a 250 words essay writing on the same topic.

After the GD, we were asked to wait for PI and were called in according to our seating in GD session.

PI-

I was called in 6th.Same panel was awaiting inside for the Interview.

The senior ma'am was scooping through the certificates and the young ma'am started off with the basic questions tell me abt yourself, hobbies, family, why mba

The senior sir shot further the interview with technical questions like
Difference of 2 and 4 stroke engine, Cylinders of engine, design and examples

The senior ma'am asked about my goals in life
and enquired about my job experience and asked for a description of my job profile

Questions such as
the person you admire the most ,longer term plans of career were also asked

the Interview overall went on a good note...The interview Panel were friendly and simultaneously serious with the process...

Felt Glad coming to GIM and experiencing the Procedure and Campus...

And yeah! Not to forget the GIM seniors who were a great deal of help in guiding and making the process at GIM easier and smoother without much hurdles in place.

Batch of Interview -7th March 2013, 8.30 a.m.
Location: GIM Campus, Goa
GD Topic - "in certain situations being unethical should be allowed"
GD lasted for around twenty minutes and eventually turned in a fish market in the end....few relevant points were made ..which followed by a write up .
PI-I was the first one to go in...the panel consisted of four panellists.
Basic questions were asked about my grads background, company profile, scope of dentistry etc.
then out of nowhere I was asked the types of DOGs
Then there was intense grilling over why PGDM gen and why not PGDM HCM....after I gave a very long explanations regarding the same the panel seemed convinced.Questions about future goals and how an MBA degree can help you achieve the same were asked... expected job profile after MBA and where you see yourself in 5 years type of questions were also asked...later there I was questioned about smoking, oral cancer and how the treatment modality works for the same...Pi was long....almost 20 -25 minutes i suppose...but in all it was a nice experience..

when will final results be declared?? will there be any 1st list ??

Shared some good points. Once the GD was over, I really thought I had good chance of converting. But then came PI. The panel had two gentlemen around 35-40 years of age. Forget their names though. They asked me whether I have girlfriend or not? I said No. Then they asked me have you proposed to any girl? Again said no. My bad time started from that moment. They told me that they don't offer seat to a guy who don't have guts to propose to a girl. Then I told him that I never fell in love with any girl. So only not proposed. I told him I had crush though. Then they again screwed me. They were asking me so you want to use girls as sexual object. I defended myself by saying that I never intended to use girls as sexual object. I have very high moral values. Then they again gone back to the times of Adam and Eve and the discussion went on how the sex life was on that point of time. My god it was one of the toughest interview I gave till this point of time. 99% chance of rejection. Thanks,Harish
