@anant_nh said: firstly i'm nt comparing mfc , no need for comparison coz mdi, NITIE are better than MFC [everyone knows]secondly no one here mentioned cutoff index score to be 91 , i am just taking an estimate coz last year it was 90.38 .... so this year might be 89 -91 [ it may vary but thats just an example to consider] .... so we here see that a student with gud cat score like 98-99%ile nd decent 10th , 12th [70-80] will not get a call frm MFC but he might get admission in fms, mdi [how weird is this .... ->fms converted and no call from Mfc ]no wieghtage to workex [ i know that workex ppl will have an edge in PI ,,, but they need to have a call for their workex to be considered ]a person having 3-4 yrs workex in a gud company like amazon, dell, any other will have no value for his workex if he does not clear the 1st step , so workex should be given weight-age in the 1st step only ..... i seriously hope thatu get my point
1. I completely respect your opinion about MFC being not better than MDI, NITIE, FMS and don't want to stir the conversation towards whether it is actually true or not. You are absolutely right about MFC being not comparable with other MBA colleges as it's not offering a MBA degree. It is a 2 yrs full time niche course in finance and not in management.
2. I also understand your point of concern here about the cutoffs (for general category) being too high that even person scoring 98-99% and decent academics (70-80%) won't be able to secure a call from MFC and that Work-ex should also be included in evaluating a candidate. But as I explained in earlier post that how cutoffs are decided - applicants of general category are ranked according to their index score and Top 120 (24*5) will get shortlisted for GD/PI considering call ratio of 5:1. Index score of 120th candidate called for GD/PI will be considered as general category's Cutoff so it is a simple process of demand and supply.
3. While making your argument, the one very important piece of information you are overlooking is no. of seats offered by MFC as compare to no. of seats offered by other institutes for final admission. MFC is offering only 46 seats (including all reserved categories) while other colleges has more that 200 seats and that is the reason they can afford to call a big pool of applicants for GD/PI. You can't expect MFC to give GD/PI call to 500-700 people for just 46 seats but other colleges can call even more that 1000 candidates for their GD/PI process because they have to fill in considerably large no. of seats.
4. Work-ex is an important parameter for evaluating a candidate but in my knowledge, no institute (may be except some IIMs) explicitly attaches any weightage to it while preparing shortlist for GD/PI but it is considered implicitly during the GD/PI process. MFC is not an exception to this and follows the same practice.
5. Since, MFC has disclosed its criteria way well before the application submission deadline, applicants can make an informed decision and decide whether they want to apply or not. In this manner, many applicants can save their money if they thought that there are less chances of getting a call. I assure you one thing that MFC (being a part of Delhi University) is not at all interested in collecting application money from the aspirants as it does not require any such external finances. Its fee structure also reflects this view very well.
I sincerely hope that your concerns are properly addressed now.
