if u were money oriented ... then why u ain't aimed for .. BM or IB.... ??wot the hell people still think abt that scope thing.... do wot ever u hav interest...
This forum is not meant for venting out your frustration Please refrain from doing so. The concerned person asked for a senior's view.
I have asked many times regd. the work -ex but didn.t get any clear answer,so this time seniors plz give the clear idea about this as only few days left for taking admission.. ,
I have 20 months of IT exp. with this much of exp will i be considered as lateral by the most of the companie or is it like 2+ exp is necessary .
the point here is that with good performance of 2 years if due to just this 4 months difference in 2 years exp ,i will not get chance to sit for the good companies then its of no use
plz give info according to current scenario, so that i can decide tht whether i should join or wait till next year.....which will be the best case for me...
You will be considered as a lateral from the SCIT perspective (Meaning your profile will be considered among the lateral profiles during Placements) but SCIT cannot guarantee that companies would feel the same.
e.g.:
There is one company (The name of which I am not at liberty to disclose) that considers 23 months and 29 days as 1 year work experience (means they only consider a year worth of work experience if and only if you have worked complete 12 months otherwise they round off to the last YEAR)
But thats just one that I know of.. all other companies on campus consider whatever work experience you may have (But, to be completely honest, it would still depend on the company's hiring policy - which may change without notification)
About waiting: well, thats your decision.. next year, if I'm not wrong, by this time you'll be 4 months short of 3 years.. so its a cycle you cant as I see it.

While I respect the basic feeling that drove you to comment please refrain from discouraging other candidates from asking questions like these. We should understand their concerns because they not only have the fees to take care of, they also are taking up the opportunity cost of being unemployed for two years. Wanting to know if it is worth taking that chance is only natural.
We here at SCIT welcome all questions that you may have regarding placements and I'm sure the Admission Team will be happy to provide you with details (though the statistics can be easily found on the website: http://www.scit.edu/placements.php#placement-stats)
Once again, like countless times before, I would like to remind all of you that placements is not something that comes to you because of just your experience or only your grades; it is the cumulative effect of all the value adds you have throughout your stay here.. you may gain a lot of things outside academics as well: Oratorship, Confidence, Personality Makeovers, People Skills etc. they all come into play when the recruiting team of a company judges you.
Anyway, hope this helps. All the best to all of you
I have a query,I have 19 months experience with HP will I be considered a lateral by SCIT or is it 20 months,I was informed during GE/PI that 18 months + are considered laterals.
@rohitkrishnan Actually the following query on SNAP portal created a confusion-
Query : How much duration of work experience qualifies a student to be considered as a lateral? I'll have a work experience of 15 months when I join the college..is it adequate for being considered a lateral ??should I apply next year with more work exp so as to better my chances in placements? Thanks and regards Reply : Usually as far as college is concerned more than 20 months work experience is considered as lateral..But companies also have their own criteria...
We're extemely sorry for the confusion. The prevailing criteria in SCIT for considering a profile as lateral is 18+ months (i.e. 1 and a half years of work experience)

Quoting this, I just need to know, if In any case, companies having High End Packages consider 15 or 15+ months as Lateral Entry..
So much important for me to know, I know that I cant speculate the companies and profile as of now, but you must be knowing it better. My decision would so much depend on it.
