[2013-2015] SCIT Aspirants Queries and Discussions

@shubham0706 Class implies:

Distinction (aggregate > 75%)
First class (aggregate 60% - 74%)
Second class (aggregate 50% - 59%)
Third class (aggregate

This is as per usual standards. If your university follows a different standard, you can mention accordingly 😃

Hi,

Can anyone share previous year's GD topics and PI questions for a generic idea of the process.

Hi!

Wishing all the fellow Puys a very joyous New Year!!

It would be interesting to know a typical day at SCIT, the hostel life, lectures, faculty et al. I have read a few posts on Life @ SCIT but they are 'ancient'!! So seniors, if you could..

Hi,

Not sure of list of topics, but I can share my GE-PI exercise. Let me first mention it that i have attended GD-PI in other B-schools too, but the one at SCIT was conducted in a very efficient and organized way. Hats off to our seniors and the then admissions team.

I had selected 11am slot for the GE-PI. On entering I saw a list which displayed grouping of aspirants. There were 8 groups in my slot, with each slot having 14 students. Each group had either interviews or the group exercise first depending on the schedule displayed there.

I had my personal (HR) interview first. The interviewer seemed to be a highly experienced guy with gray hair. He cornered me at lot of points. For an instance, when I said that my hobby was traveling, he said who doesn't like traveling. He questioned me that what extra mile have you gone to pursue your hobby. I was really having a drilling session with him. And the tough part was that he would not accept generic answer which other interviewers expect. He actually wanted to hear my real life experiences. Some-how I could manage to survive that turmoil .

Then was the most easiest part of the process for me - the subjective interview. It was mainly based on my work experience and past academic records.

The next was the case-study based GD and it was the crux of the process as we had Director in the panel . We 14 aspirants were divided into 2 teams and were given a small (5-6 sentences) case. Both teams had to simultaneously discuss the case amongst their team members, select a leader for their team and come up with a solution within 5 minutes of preparation time given. Fortunately I was selected as my team leader by my team mates. Then, after the elapse of 5 min, each leader were asked to brief on their team's solution and perspective. Then began a series of questions from the panel to each member. The case was twisted a lot, each one of us were countered a lot on our points. The GD took 20-25 mins to get over. This GD was by far the most innovative GD I have ever sat for .

Next was turn for picture GD. All 14 of us were made to sit in a semi-circular manner facing the panel. There was a projector screen behind the panel on which a photo of a departmental store with different type of people shopping at the store was displayed. We were given 5 mins of preparatory time and 15 mins to discuss the picture and come up with a topic (title) for the picture in consensus with each of us. As it was very open ended, we discussed a lot of topics and issues right from FDI, to various choices life has to offer, to India and its changing lifestyle, to the marketing strategies adopted by Malls. Finally we decided to title the picture (if I remember it rightly) as "Changing India".

This was the end of all the anxieties and then we were directed for the verification of documents. The whole process got over by 3.30pm - 4pm.

All the Best for your experience!
@Bhavin.Bhatt Hey Thanks a lot,it was really helpful!

i have registered for SCIT and paid through credit card, now do i need to send any hardcopy to the college? please reply soon TIA.

@smcetguy Hi,
No.You need not send any hard copy to the college. All the best for your results..!!
@srikanthm1987 can i expect an admission at 65-70 snap score?
@smcetguy Hi,
I cannot predict the cutoffs due to the percentile system.Hope for the best..!!
@smcetguy u should bro..last year it was 35 for SCIT, si if the cut offs of premier institutes go up by 10-12 marks as being claimed by many experts, then correspondingly, 35+12= 47, take 50 for being further safe..so 65-70 is well..
