Video Series: Role of GMAT in Business School Application Process- Video1
My acads are as follows: 10th - 81.2%, 12th - 70.8%, B.E. in Electrical Engineering with a CGPA of 7.89 which i have completed by May 2013. After that i decided to join the family business instead of looking for a job, i didnt even sit for campus placements. I took the above decision for two reasons: 1. Working here would give me flexibility so that i can devote more time to prepare for management entrance exams. 2. Ultimately, i will have to join the family business, be it 5-10years later, so why not join it now.I used to study on weekends as i am occupied with work on weekdays. But i was unable to get a good percentile in any of the exams this year. I really want to go for MBA from the top-tier colleges. Now my doubt is about the work-ex i get next year, will it be enough or even valid for colleges like IIMs or ISB as a proper work-ex. I am in this dilemma that despite working for 1.5years i may be rejected only because the work-ex is not from a MNC. Can you suggest me what should i do now? Its really demotivating if i hear random opinions that i should work in a proper company so as to implement what ive learnt in Engineering rather working with the family.

A bit about my very ordinary profile:
Academics:
I am from commerce background and took Economics as my graduation subject.
Class X : 87%, Class XII : 89% Graduation (Economics Hons from DU) : 60%
Work Ex:
1.5 years in an MNC Bank, in Operations, as Advisor
3 years in a PSU Bank in Operations ( Branch Banking) as an Officer
4months (till date) in Government of India (sarkari naukri) as an Assistant (Assistant Section Officer)
ECA
At school level, I participated in few Debates and Discussions, but have not won any prizes.
During college, I was the President of our Economics Society in my final year.
I also took up a summer job during college.
I learned Classical Dance for two years while I was working
Also completed JAIIB ( Banking).
Other than that there is absolutely no other ECA to my credit.
Though I am trying to now take up new activities and develop few interests to add to my profile, but still they would be in the short term only, right.
I am aiming for 700+ in GMAT and considering such an ordinary profile,
1) which schools should I target.
2) Do i have a chance at any of the top universities?
3) What can I do to enhance/improve my profile
Thanks a lot in advance
