2014 GMAT Prep and Strategies

Hi guys, I am having 5 yrs of work experience in R&D; Automobile industry. I got 94% in 10th , 96% in XII and 78% in B Tech (Mech). I wanna take GMAT this year to get into ISB 2014. Whn s the best time to take GMAT. I am about to start preparing for GMAT. Can some one guide.....

@gmatasap

. Is it mandatory to take TOFEL along with GMAT for indian students before applying to the Universities in US.

Hi,

GMAT is an aptitude test which tries to find your readiness for the Post Graduation Programme.

TOEFL is a test of your ability to read, write and understand English even if you walk into a departmental store in the US. TOEFL is just a plain test of your verbal ability to be able to survive in the US.

Is it mandatory to take TOEFL? You may be able to get a TOEFL waiver if you are able to convince the admission committee that (1) you have been studying in English medium all your life ... (2) you have worked with clients based in US or Europe ... (3) your high GMAT verbal score is a good indicator of your mastery of the language.

On a side note - be very wary of colleges that require only TOEFL and not GMAT. It could be an indication that not too many students apply to the college - low entry barrier.

I hope this helps. Thanks.

2)Also regarding the prep material,I hav no material as of now...but hav heard of Kaplan, Manhattan and the OG as the must books to go for. Please mail me the material whatsoever u have. Would be really appreciated. My mail id- nams.sindwani@gmail.com
3)Regarding scholarships: Pls guide me what factors can lead you to high scholarships?
My profile : 10th %- 86.7
12th % - 83.4
B.tech % - 74
Work ex - 3 Years
Please lemme knw if I have a good profile. Waiting for your mail..!!!

Hi Neha,

I am planning for GMAT in Nov/Dec.

Thanks & Rgds,

Luv.P

@neha4659 There is a small query .I know that you are not the concerned person to answer this. But still .While scheduling my GMAT test and creating my official GMAT profile , I made a very minor mistake while filling my contact information under the Address Section .However I have updated that mistake in my GMAT profile.I have send this query to GMAC also. Please let me now whether this is a big issue for them.Do they really match each and every character of your address in your ID card on the test center before allowing you to take the test.

Hi Neha,

I wish to apply to US B schools in R1 for Aug 2014 admissions. However I have rescheduled my GMAT exam for 23 Aug 13 to 4 Sept 13 now as I was not getting the desired score of 700+.

Below are the mock scores:

GMAt Prep 1: 640 (Q47,V32)

MGMAT 1: 630 (Q41,V35)

MGMAT 2: 600 (Q45, V28)

Will 4 Sept be too late as I have to finish writing all the applications ( 6-7) in one month?

Thanks 😃

Dear Neha,
Congrats for the great GMAT score and an even greater convert.
I am sure you must have researched a lot before selecting the MBA college.
So I want to ask that , in your research did you come across any college that provides MBA education for a minimal fee, or for free ? I have a GMAT score of 710 ,(can improve much if I give it again), CGPA = 3.4 on scale of 4, ...fairly decent profile.

Can anyone tell me what kind of essay have we to work on after giving gmat? and how can i strong my applications. pls suggest me ....

any one from chennai preparing for TAS2014 ??😃

I gave a pearson test last week and scored 690...

After that i gave a couple of Kaplan online tests and got 650 & 630 respectively.

I have my exam scheduled on 30th.

What to do? which score is closer to actual score i ll get? Because as things stand, i am really worried about my declining performance

does anybody have any clue about the types of role a DOCTOR +MBA will be offered at a reputed pharmaceutical company ? i am pretty confused about the same. how do reputed companies like ranbaxy, novartis accomodate doctor mbas in their company ? please do respond

Hi Neha,

Quite a nice initiative helping canditates with directions and material.

I have 7 years of experience in IT (yes another IT guy trying to get an MBA).

A bit about me -

I work as a software integration architect for a multinational bank in New Zealand. An MBA for me is a transition path from technology to strategy and planning in the short run and eventually my own business in the next 7-10 years.

I Intend to take GMAT in Nov '13 and would be grateful if you could guide me on preparation strategy and material.

Also as IT is one of the commonest fields that appear on candidate applications, would be great if you could share some experience / guidance on the sort of competition I am up against and the nature of prep work I should be working on to present a stronger case?

Thanks,

Rajat

I want to pursue MBA; I would be giving CAT this year and am planning to give GMAT in Feb 2014.I am planning to apply for 2015 intake.

I have not started preparing for GMAT yet and wanted guidance on how to start my preparation; though I would be able to prepare whole heartedly only after November(that is after CAT). I have been preparing for CAT so have an idea of Quant and verbal but am worried about AWA and IR.

Also could you suggest a good coaching institute.

Could you mail me relevant links and material; my email ID- akku.mitt@gmail.com

Thanks a lot

Hi guys, I am new to this forum and was wondering whether any of you are planning to give GMAT for double MBA or if you have any idea on the colleges which accept students pursuing a double MBA.

Is OG sufficient to get 700? or do i need to study from Kaplan and Manhattan guide as well?... and which all tests do i need to give before sitting down for GMAT???

  • Manhattan
  • Kaplan
