Hi Neha ,

I have 2.5 years of exp in IT in a good MNC . Have completed my graduation from NIT . I am planning to do mba from US . I havent given GMAT yet . Most probably i will give it in march 2014 . But i am most worried about my profile .

10th - 84.2

12th - 84

graduation - 81

(1 research paper in international journal ) - i guess this doesnt count for MBA profile evaluation .

I will really appreciate if you can suggest how to improve my profile .

I read recent posts here. you have asked people to take initiative and do some leadership work . But at my level in IT industry , we dont get any leadership work . So can you please suggest where to start from for improving my profile?

Hi Neha,

I have the following profile :
B.E. (Comp Sci) - 7.46 CGPA
12th : 77%
10th : 74.6 %

I have 6 yrs of experience in various profiles starting from SE to Business Analyst and have been in the role of Project Manager for the last 1.5 yrs. I am looking to enhance my credentials as am feeling that I am hitting a glass cieling now in terms of career growth(interested in BDM/Business Analytics profile).
Can you suggest me how should I prepare and which colleges to target with my profile the way it is currently. Would going to any GMAT prep classes help or can you give me pointers to some good online resources esp practice papers which would give me a launch pad..
Thanks,
Anshul.

Hi

I have a total of 26 months of experience (20 months in Infosys as an educator and 6 months as a teacher in a low income school). I will sit for GMAT next year (by the time the session starts in April, 2015, i'll have 3.5 years of experience). Due to financial constraints, I am looking at places in India like ISB and Great Lakes (and anything else you could suggest for someone with my modest background).

My academic record- 89.2, 79.2 and 81.7 percent in 10th, 12th and graduation respectively. In co-curricular activitie-, I have 12 years of training in Bharatanatyam and Kathak. I am an avid reader and have read over 800 titles- fiction and non-fiction- (not a co-curricular activity per se but looking back it seems like an intelligent investment of my time). I also write and have won awards in college. As for community engagement- my current job is all about that. Do you think this is a good enough profile for a place like ISB?

I am not sure about which stream of MBA will interest me the most- considering my limited exposure to the corporate world and to the sphere of MBA. Can you guide me by telling me which parameters/variables I should be looking at while making this decision?

The most important question- how should I go about the GMAT preparation? You said, "Though I had a lot of online material with me, it was important to know which ones to use and which ones to not use. The application process is equally important and one needs to be very careful about how the profile is presented."

Can you help in with that as well?

I have addressed to you 3 broad questions. Please reply when you have the time. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Also, is it ok if I mention the AdCom about my Engg %age, I was never interested in Engg but went along, but once I joined I love working in this sector and want to target Technology Consulting or Marketing, is it ok to be honest that I did not like Engg but like herd mentality joined it?

Your inputs are much appreciated!

hey guys ,

Please advise that have we to attempt all the question in gmat exams or we can leave some question if we will have doubt in that question.

Hi @j_anant If the mode of teaching and examination during your academic years had been English then TOEFL is not a mandate for you.
