Make sure you adopt the right approach and stick to an effective plan. Here's one suggested by the makers of the GMAT exam.

Hi Everyone, I plan to take GMAT sometime in May '14 for an executive mba. I have 8 yrs experience overall and did an MBA 8 yr ago. The problem is that I'm completely out of touch with fundamentals and studying. Which book / course guide do you suggest I should start with and other books that i should must have ? Since, I'm working do you thing spending 2 hrs on weekdays and 5-6 hrs on weekends would suffice for a 700+.

How much time should I spend preparing for GMAT exam?

Although there's no specific answer to this question, here are some points to consider.

Hi, I am currently into final semester pursuing B.E in Information Technology. I want to do MBA in Finance after having an experience of 3 to 4 years in the IT company in which I am placed.
->I would like to know whether the global B-Schools accept GRE scores too for MBA?
->What would be an ideal GMAT score for top B-schools in Singapore & Germany?
-> Which one of the following would help in better preparation - Professional Coaching || Online Courses || Self-study.

->Finally, when is a right time to give GMAT : Now (In 2014) or after 3 years of work-experience in company (Is there any hitch in preparation while working?).

Hi Friends,

I have some queries related to MBA abroad, First i will like to discuss something about myself so that you can get an idea whether MBA in USA is my cup of tea or not.

I am an Electrical engineer from a decent college under Mumbai University. I have average academic scores in class Xth and XIIth, but was able to secure a distinction in my engineering. I have a work experience of 4 years with Reiance Energy Ltd, as an electrical engineer in the field of operation and maintenance, Got promoted to the rank of Assistant Manager of Operation and Maintenance working in the Distribution of electricity business.

I have been preparing for MBA for past 3 years targeting the top 10-15 B-school but was not fortunate to get a top b-school, Got offer from Tier-2 B-schools like welingkar, KJ Som and Teri University. I always wanted to target top b-school but was not fortunate enough to get a call.

Now I am planning to give GMAT by this March. I don't have any idea of which B-School i should target abroad since MBA abroad requires lot of energy, time, money etc.

There are lot's of questions like How, what, why, which?, Going inside my mind but could not get a convincing reply to those questions.

Since this is a forum dedicated to MBA in Usa. I would request you to kindly guide me.

Thanking in anticipation.

Hi I am a hotel sales and marketing professional with 8 years of work experience in service industry. I am looking to challenge myself and break the ceiling of mediocrity in my life by cracking GMAT. ISB class of 2015 is my AIM and I will die to reach there.

Can please somebody help me to guide how to start preparing for GMAT as I have been out of touch with studies for quite some time and clueless about where to start from. I will join coaching institution sometime before the test.

PS: I have been an average student all my life and specially need to focus on Maths. Nevertheless other sections too need lot of focus and improvement but still I am confident to sail through.

Hi Neha,

I am planning to start preparing for GMAT. I want to know what should my strategy be at the start and what material i should refer to ? i want to prepare well and maximize my score in the 1st attempt and hence i want the preparations to be pitch perfect.

Hi Neha,

First of all Congrats for your call from Kellogs.

I have started preparing for GMAT, and I am having couple of queries which I hope you will be able to answer.

For starters, I am hoping to give 3 months preparation time for GMAT. Is that a good enough time to prepare? On initial analysis of my strengthens and weakness, I am very poor in SC and verbal overall (accuracy of less than 50 %). Which are the best study materials to target that area of concern?

To give a peek into my profile I have overall 4 years experience in Analytics, currently in Capital One.
10th - 82%, 12th - 85%, BE(EEE) - 60.2% ( yeah i messed up here 😠) Overall I have good extra curricular and awards to show off. ( Best outgoing student in Cultural Activities, Involved with NSS and social cause and 4 quarterly awards in the company).

What is the Gmat score I must be targeting to get into a good B school?
