Interview Experience
Profile: GEM, CAT-99.97 ,X-71.28 , XII-66.44 ,Grad (Dual Degree, IIT Kgp)-8.29 31 Months work ex as Manager in a Pvt Shipyard.
Date and Time : Apr 14, 2015, 9:30AM Slot
The document verification took away first one and half hours,interviews were scheduled from 11:00 AM but started at 11:30AM
Docs Reqd : X, XII, Grad and Call letter (One attached with mail you received) all originals, no work ex, no extra acads. In case you forget to take the Call letter, there is option to take printout in Room No 108.
Interview Panel - Board 6 , One male, two Ladies (All smiling the whole time) Interview started at around 11:50, me being 4th in my panel. Entered the room, greeted them, the lady asked me to take the seat.
Lady (L1) on the left started : So Aman, tell me about yourself.
Me: My name...told about college, current job, hobbies etc.
Male (M1) : So what do you do as a Manager in your company?
Me: Explained my job profile in detail. Some cross questioning followed.
M1 : So you company is a private company?
Me : Yes sir! (First mistake)
M1: Is it according to the company's act?
Me : Don't know sir! 😞
M1 : Ok tell me, is your company a pvt company or a company under private sector?
Me : A company under pvt sector sir!
M1 : That's what you should have said! (me like - the okay meme! 😞 )
F2 (Sitting on right) : You company was in news from last few days, you know that?
Me : Yes mam! Reliance has planned to invest and eventually take over the company. Even the name is supposed to change. (Explained in short what was happening)
M1 : Ok, but how will Reliance benefit from it.
Me: Explained about the huge infrastructure. (He wasn't convinced fully ) Then order book (Again ok, but not totally convinced). Finally about make in India (Now convinced)
M1 : The last part was the answer I was expecting, but you did well.
Me all smiley!
L1 : So Aman, it's time for the extempore. You will have to speak for one minute on the topic we give you. (Leaning forward to have a look at my tie, and then with a smile) So your topic is umm,.. "I love my tie!"
Me : (Damn!) Ok mam! Talked about the color and combination with the formals I was wearing (Why I liked it) Labeled it as my lucky tie! One more reason to love it was that it was a gift from my fiance, who is now my wife. (They were all smiling the whole time. M1 was timing it.) Was about to talk more, when I was stopped by M1.
M1 : Okay Aman! We are done! Thank you!
Me: Thank you sir, thank you mam! (Took Leave)
Overall 6-7 minute interview! Was pretty smooth though! 😃
Extempore : Prep nil, Performance 3/5
PI : Prep nil, Performance 6/10 (My guess)
