How much has the waitlist moved in the general category ?? .....mine is 462 ....any idea about whether I would convert or not ???
Morale Booster for people waitlisted in New IIMs and a convert from NM(I being one of them)...
You all must be having the following reasons to prefer new iims over NM-
1)The Tag-An IIM is an IIM afterall.
2)Hostel-You being from an engineering college must have enjoyed your stay in hostels and want to avoid the headache of managing Flat stuffs......cook...maid etc ka headache so would prefer a hostel
3)Campus-Everyone would love to have playgrounds and other stuffs within the college
4)Fees-New IIMs fees is almost half compared to NM(if u include cost of stay)
5)Batch Size-New IIMs have a batch strength almost 1/3rd compared to NM...so no one wants to have such a high competitoion(keep in mind all seats in NM are general and half of the seats at IIMs is reserved)
Now you are in a situation where you are waitlisted in new IIMs and hope of conversion before 5th june is very less....you have resigned from the job and only have NM as your convert/backup
The need of the hour is to move on and search for positive points of NM so that we dont feel bad if we need to join NM in the end.
1)Location-This is one of the most in favour of NM....much more oppurtunities as compared to new IIMs
2)Big Names-here also NM have an edge on new IIMs.You can find big names like GS,JP Morgan,Morgan Stanley and others(refer placements of NM for this session).
3)Dream Jobs-Since some dream companies of every MBA aspirant visits NM and not new IIMs,so joining NM+some luck can help you get ur dream job
4)Finance Specialization-As far as i have researched,if one is interested in Finance domain,NM is a better bet than new IIMS
5)People with very good past acads-Since the summer placements take place somewhere around Sep-Oct when there is no trimester results are out(CV gets freezed before a month or two),so if you have good acads you will be shortisted by almost all big players.
6)Work ex b/w 1-3 years-As per my research and talk with seniors,almost all the companies will shortlist you if you belong to this band of work ex.
7)Be among top 25% students-this figure comes out to be around 150 students....so it can be managed
Conc-You can analyse the above points...some additions are welcomed.Joining NM can prove to be a blessing in disguise.So whichever college you join,give your best in those 2 years and enjoy what you do.

IIM Raipur's Admission Office Phone No. +91-771-2474612,13, given in the offer dated 24/05/2016, are not in existence. Hence, I am not able to contact them. Seniors, pl help.

Dear all.. the next list will be out in 2-3 days. Those who have withdrawn, the refund process will start after admission process is closed Those who are joining kindly check the change in dates of registration and classes.
Fear of getting seats vacant or losing on some sincere and good students prompted IIM Raipur to shift the registration date....well played IIM Raipur 😛
PS:No clear dates when they will release its next/correct waitlist....kept on shifting the dates shows they can go with the earlier registration date

Chutiyapa full on..iim raipur ur image is getting tarnished..first because of that professor post and now ur insensitive handling of results.. Believe me.i know 5-6 people who were thinking of joining raipur are now joining trichy because of ur mismanagement... How can you being a management college excel in mismanagement.. awesome u r.. And yes u will get all ur seats filled but u will not have good ranked student.. all the best iim raipur
