[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

@TONYMBA With your expected CAT score you can definitely look out for FMS, NITIE, XIMB and few IITs (after results)
@ajaygovindg :filled up fms,ximb,dse(mib mhrod),lbsim,fore,kjs......
@ajaygovindg :one more query.....jbims accepts cat score for oms candidates according to their website and application deadlines are post cat results...so how much cut off jbims will hv?
@TONYMBA It will be better if you ask this in one of the below threads. You'll get better responses :)

After much research work (source : CRISIL, PG, UBS Official Website), I dint find UBS worth applying.
Reason 1 : seats = 64. out of which only 36 are for general category.
Reason 2 : Punjab University is not a reputed university.

Reason 3 : Placement data on PG regarding UBS are 1. Misleading
2. Ambiguous

Waiting for your suggestions. Is it really a good institute?

Expected CAT %ile : 85-90.
Applied to FORE till now.

I have done B.Tech from GIT, Jaipur affiliated to RTU. At the time of admission, I just opened it's website and was impressed by its infrastructure. Also it is ranked among the top 5 private engg. institutes in Jaipur. So took admission in it. But the results were BAD. I dont wnt the same to repeat in MBA also. Kindly give your unbiased reviews abt UBS. The PG forum is not enuff to judge UBS.

'Second' ????????
didnot understand wat u said ??

@anie0207

and how do you decide whether a university is reputated or not .

FYI Current PM Manmohan Singh , Ex President shankar Dayal Sharma are all alumini of Punjab University .

Sad to see a moderator acknowledging posts like this after all those PG rules they keep talking about :(

PS : Appyling to UBS or not is one's personal opinion , but tarnishing its name is another thing

No agreement was intended at tarnishing any institute. No doubt Punjab University is among the highly reputed ones, however any university across the globe no matter how reputed it is, doesn't carry same reputation for all its courses.

For that matter, even a B-School doesn't carry same reputation for all the specializations it provides.

Hope this clears the air.

Cheers!

Hi Puys,

Sorry to post this question here. But I could not find any other thread to post this.

I am currently working with a UK client. The client is directly assigning me the work. Now I have completed my work and I need to write an email to the client for asking new work. So,what is the appropriate word I should use.I am confused with the following two sentences.

Please update me on my new assignment?

or

Please update me on my new task?

Is there any difference in the two words "task" and "assignment".As per my manager(thinks himself like a English Pundit) assignment is somewhat in wider perspective and we should not use. Please let me know the link if u find any difference.

Thanks in advance.

@anie0207 Like we have been saying here, the decision to apply/join any particular institute is up to the individual to decide, based on what he is looking for and what he expects. If you feel you're not going to get what you want at a particular institute then don't consider it!!

I would not agree to the statement, "Punjab University is not a good university". It would be better said as "Punjab University is not good for MBA according to/for me"!!

If you're choosing/trusting a particular institute just based on information you get from various online sources (rankings, PG, website etc.), then I can assure you that finally majority of the institutes (including some in top 40) would not be in the list of institutes to consider, as they would have fudged/tweaked it in some way or the other!!!! Speak with some current students, speak with some alumni (if you can find any), speak with as many people as you can who have been associated with the particular institute to validate the facts you have got and then take the final call.
@CatNCat This is not the right thread (and maybe forum also!!) to ask this query. Maybe you can get some help by asking the VA experts at http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/official-verbal-ability-thread-for-cat-2012-25084936 or any of the threads in VA section at http://www.pagalguy.com/cat

hi\

when i go through the admission criteria of iim c it seems like they r not giving any marks to grad % is it correct?
being a candidate with
x-96%
XII92%
grad-7(cgpa)(upto 4 th sem)
i wont lyk them giving weightage to grad %...pls help puys!!
@dhiva Read this for selection criteria of IIMC http://programslive.iimcal.ac.in/admission-procedure-domestic-candidates

Your graduation stream does have a weightage in the PI stage. If you're an engineer you get 0 marks else you get 2 marks, and that may become the decisive make or break factor for the call!!
