@unisol I never said they give wrong info. All I said was the info is of no use, because it will be biased. And the end users are students and they blindly believe anything without thinking for self. That's what these "ranking experts" cash in on! And what most of the rankings do is simply make MBA over-hyped giving dreams of those huge salary packages!

That's my point too. It is NOT biased. Had it been to cash in on, three biggies like IMS, TIME and CL wouldn't have come up with more or less the same ranking. Or do you call it a mere co-incidence?
@unisol Dude. I am not a "ranking expert" and neither am I "ranking" them or saying any perception! Did I? Did I say X institute is better than Y? Aren't these rankings doing that. Perceptions, and that too of MULTIPLE people from the IITs, IIMs - the faculty. Basically how different people felt about the different institutes! Or is it the same person who studied in all those places?! And how about those other institutes listed there other than IITs, IIMs? The faculty are from there also? Read once more, I've said "Each institute has its own pros and cons and its up to an individual to study FACTS and then match it with his expectations from MBA to decide on an institute."
So the 3 biggies say it, and everyone trusts it? That's their business!! Any idea what parameters they've used for this rating? Max. weightage to placements/ROI? So MBA is all about that. Invest x lakhs and get x+1 lakhs. Fixed deposits, Mutual funds etc. give better and faster returns. So lets invest in them rather because its all about ROI!!

And how can you be so sure that they have ranked based on only one parameter-RETURN OF INVESTMENT?
@unisol I'm not, you're not, no one here is sure about the parameters used because they haven't given details on that. That's my whole point!! That was my first reply! :)
So without knowing those how can you trust this? How can this be of use? Period.

Trust unlike beauty lies in the faith of the beholder. And more so when opinions are matched through several sources claiming justice. I would rather staying open to ideas and interpretations than closing my own eye believing none can see me. Period.
@unisol To each his own faith! All the Best! :cheerio:
By the way, the placement data that these coaching institutes must be using, to be considered as part of their rating/ranking. Where do they get it from? Placement reports? So is that fully correct & trustworthy?!! 😃 Or they have insider information on all the institutes? How about faculty? Teaching methodology? Infrastructure?
Just something to ponder on, think about. Faith is good, but then when you're 100% sure of the facts being laid out! Several sources would claim justice because they're all in the same business. MONETIZING/SELLING education!!
Hi there,
My X percentage is 86%, XII is 67%, BE in CS (VTU) is 61%... I have 6 months of work-ex...
Can anybody recommend some top B-Schools for me???
@tauheed6219 Acads is only a part of the whole selection process in almost all B-schools, usually 10-15% at max. Also any work exp less than 1yr would NOT be considered significant. There are institutes like FMS, MDI, IIFT, NITIE etc. which give more weightage to the entrance exam score (CAT, IIFT etc.) and less weightage to acads.
@ajaygovindg sir i came to know about a college called SOIL can you shed some light ..and good is that college ?
@OMG_CAT Firstly, the courses are not AICTE approved, so it is a Certificate program (and probably they don't plan to apply for approval also!). Source - http://www.soilindia.net/faq.html. But doesn't mean its not good. AICTE approval may become a problem if one is planning for few course/job outside India, PhD, UPSC etc.
I did hear a few good things about the institute though. Good industry interaction, decent placements (but that may be because the average work exp of the main program is 4 years)
You can get further information by reading through http://www.pagalguy.com/discussions/official-1-year-post-graduate-program-pgpmschool-of-inspired-leadership-soil-25070093/2851183. You can also ask admissions team, seniors your specific queries there.
@vin16 I'm not a "rating" agency dude! Anyways, I heard about this institute for the first time in this thread few days back only. So no idea. Maybe you can ask for facts/information (asking the right questions matter!) in the thread here in PG (there's an official account by admissions team I believe) and then take a call yourself.
@vin16 And in Economic Times? Career Launcher? T.I.M.E? IMS? DNA?
I guess everywhere its different, not just for this institute but any other! And in some they don't figure in the rankings at all!! So then which one will you go by? Which one you'll trust?
Then the next question to be asked is what are the parameters they consider for the ranking and the methodology used? Do they disclose? No.
So then what should you trust? Your own analysis, based on facts, information you can collect from as many sources as possible? Wouldn't that be the most trustworthy? :)
