[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

@unisol Its too small to be read! And I guess we have more or less the same thing here - http://www.pagalguy.com/posts/4036165 :mg:

The ratings/rankings differ based on parameters considered. So its more or less of no use and should not be considered!!
Hi guys,
My CAT went this way:
Quants - 18 attempts with at least 16/17 right
Verbal - 15 attempts with 12 right (hopefully!)
Any idea what would be my approx percentile based on the trend?
My Exam date was 5th of November.

Waiting for kind reply.
Thanks in Advance! :)

All the Best. Get back on this thread after CAT Results.. !!

I have a three years gap between my 10th and my 12th ... m expecting around 95 percentile in cat .. hav decent extra curriculars .... what r my chances???

@Pooshpanjan If you have a good/valid reason for the 3 years gap, which will convince the interviewers then you can consider applying to NITIE, XIMB and after results KJSOM, IMI, IMT etc.
@ajaygovindg dats means i can get an interview call despite this gap factor .... ?? i thought none of the insti will consider me only ...
@Pooshpanjan Like I said, if you have a valid/genuine reason like medical reasons etc. then you have a chance. And it all depends on how well you will be able to convince the interviewers. If your reason is simply CAT prep (or some other prep) then you'll have a tough time.
@ajaygovindg sir my 3 years gap is between 10th class n 12th class .. how can cat prep be a reason??

@avinashkrjha I thank you very much for clarifying all my concerns. Can you please let me know that who are regular recruiters in case of Operations field? And here comes silly question... How to prepare to get 76% in XAT..? Thanx once again..!!
Till the batch of 2009-11 at GIM, the intake was 120. No one used to take Ops as Majors.

From the batch of 2010-12, the intake is 240. And Ops as Majors was introduced.

For this batch, there were only 9 students opting for Ops Majors. In the Batch of 2011-13, there are 27 students who have opted for Ops Majors.

Since there were only 9 students, all of them got placed within 3/4 companies as far as I know. For the present batch, more companies are expected as there are 27 students.

For the last batch, the major recruiter for Ops --> Tata Motors, Welspun, J P Morgan, etc.

For XAT Preparation,

1. Solve the last 5 year's XAT Papers.

2. Solve Decision Making questions as much as possible from Materials of TIME/CL or from some book.

3. For Quants/VA, CAT Preps should solve the purpose.

4. Accuracy is very important.

All the Best.. :)

@Pooshpanjan That part was in general. Not specifically for you! Any gap, for some competitive entrance exam prep or the like where you're doing nothing but just doing the prep, will be a tough thing to convince the interviewer, because majority of the time in majority B-schools they'll be looking for people who can multitask. Unless of course like I said medical reasons etc.

@ajaygovindg : For best use, all one needs to do is download the same, open and increase the size.Alternatively, with or without downloading, Ctrl+Scroll works fine.

P.S: The rankings provided above are not by me rather by Career Launcher Experts who have decades of experience pertaining to this field. So claiming to be of no use does actually serve no use in itself.

P.P.S: The rankings provided by CL are not meant for harming or hurting an individual or a group in particular based and biased with opinions tilted towards defence of their own institutes.

@unisol Dude, I'm not defending any institute! I would "rate" all those institutes after IIMs, FMS, XLRI etc. as at par because each has its own pros and cons and its up to an individual to study facts and then match it with his expectations from MBA to decide on an institute. There are so many experts like that coming out with multiple rankings. ET, Business Today, DNA and god knows how many others which people trust blindly. But the parameters considered & methodology in each is different, and no one bothers to look into that. In the end would you trust someone else's ranking/priority list or something that you would have for your own based on facts you collect?

P.S: Who is paying those 6lakhs plus fees for MBA? You or the coaching institute (or any of those experts ranking B-schools)?

P.P.S: This decades of experience you talk about, is it the same person doing these rankings since time immemorial? Has he/she been to those institutes in person and experienced how things are there to give a judgement on them?

Big Bro,
I agree to whatever you said. But at the same time, you too, must agree to the fact that the reputation, competition, business and most importantly survival of a good coaching institute lie in the hands of the information they deal with; both in-classroom and out-classroom ones. And the target customers being none other than us students. So, in this huge million-dollar industry, and in the age of social networking, they would do anything but provide wrong-info.
Any communication and miscommunication alike would spread like a wild-fire.And if the latter does,it in turn can be detrimental to their reputation and business.
They deal with students and their future.

By the way, I found ranking provided by IMS and T.I.M.E, too are more or less of the same pattern.

Talk about paying a visit to the institutes before judging them, we all know, that most of the faculties are themselves IITs and IIMs pass-out. And visiting other institutes before rating them : have you done the same?Or is it just perception/imagination talking?
