Apply toFMSXIMBIMTMFCMBE More Options can be explored after CAT ResultsIf you wish to keep some back ups, then few among UBS/LBS/NIRMA/FORE as of now.All the Best..

@dipesh_scorp hey dont apply to mfc/mbe because the cut off was 91 last year (CAT -75%, X-10% XII-10% MATHS-2.5% SPL DEGREES-2.5% and even if you scored cent percent in xii maths you sholud get a cat percentile of 102.66 to reach the 91 cut off which is practically impossible, but wait a minute the cutoff can be reduced...so think once before applying...sorry if any thing hurts
@avinashkrjha Thanks a Lot

@avinashkrjha hello sir how are you ? need a little help ... wat are your views on Great lakes PGPM ( 1 year course) ... on their website they have mentioned about the highest package offered in each vertical, do u have some information about the lowest, median and mean compensation offered to students. I am still trying to understand how would a 1 year course will stand in comparison to a 2 year course ... i mean how would they manage all the subjects in one year??? i dont want a comparison with any b school just want to know in general about the one year program ( and specifically for GLIM). thanks
@rajatpal87 : Let me make some points very clear about 2 yr and 1 yr Course

1. 2 Yr Course is advantageous for younger people and 1 Yr for those with heavy work-ex. Simple logic behind this is the duration of course.

2. You will be without income for 2 years. Can you afford that?

3. Going by the logic of duration, 1 Yr Course gives you a better RoI.

4. But 2 Yr Course gives you lot of opportunities such as Summer Internship, Exposure to Live Projects, etc. So the RoI part gets compensated.

5. So, you need to analyse after weighing all the options, pros and cons.

How is the course managed --> There is no summer internship. Very short breaks. And almost everything is covered in 12/15 months as compared to 17/18 months for 2 Yr Course.

How is GLIM --> One of the well reputed b-school for 1 yr course.

No idea about lowest, mean and median. Kindly confirm it from seniors of GLIM.

Hope I have cleared most of your doubts.

Do get back in case of any further queries.. !!

@avinashkrjha sir, im working for an IT company. Is it advisable to flip the stream from IT to other sector with 1 yr program?
i am asking this to know the chances if we change the path with in just 1 yr.
@AbhiOfficial : As far as I feel, for changing the stream, 2 Yr Course will be more advisable. Because you get an opportunity to get the feel of Job in Summer Internship. Apart from that, you have more time to understand the subjects in details.

Would request @abhimukh19 sir & @ajaygovindg sir to throw more light on this.. :)
@AbhiOfficial 1 year programs are mostly useful/helpful in getting a better position in the same industry or probably get into some consulting kind of role again in same industry. It does not help much in terms of moving from a particular industry. There might be a few who get to switch, but then since mostly people with significant work exp who go for 1 year MBA programs, they usually get back to same industry (or maybe company also!) but in better profile like Business Analyst etc. OR start their own venture OR get into relevant consulting.

thanks sir ... can 3 years in IT (SAP Functional - supply Chain) be considered as heavy or even slightly heavy work ex??? I would like to stick to scm cosulting or to ops in future also ... so would you recommend a 1 year course for me? can you tell me how well a 1 year program is received in industry and later on few years down the line after passing out do candidates from both type of courses get equal opportunities?@ajaygovindg sir aap bhi thoda help kar do ...

@rajatpal87 --> I think 1 Yr Course is fine if you wish to stick in the same industry/domain/stream. But then, a lot depends on the college options you have. Not every college is known for 1 Yr Course apart from few.

I suggest you to apply right now to the Top Colleges providing 1 Yr Course as well as Top B-Schools providing 2 Yr Course. You can decide which one to join later on based on the options you have.

Also, be informed that there are not much options for 1 Yr Course at a work-ex of 3 Yrs. One should have a minimum of 5/6 Yrs of work-ex for most of the Top 1 Yr Course.

For now apply to:
SP JAIN
IMT G
MFC
MBE

After CAT Results:
IIT's
KJ SOM
MICA
IMI (Likely to re-open application window) ATB :)

@avinashkrjha @mavericmonck - I read in the IMI thread that last year the application window was reopened as they had increased the number seats.. it is highly unlikely that it will be opened again.. Nevertheless, I hope it does for you @mavericmonck :)
@ibad786 great ! :)
@avinashkrjha one method of setting cutoff for a bschool depends mainly upon the number of applicants to the instituts & their respective scores what i feel. IPE HYD i heard is good bt still ur take ?? am not comparing it to any else collg so that shudnt be a prob i guess.
did it take cmat scores of feb2012 ? if yes cutoff ? i thought it can be good backup

@MANJULNEOGI bhai chaap nish na. next yr CAT de..akhno 2 yr time ache.

"I heard that a student not having three 80s (in 10th, 12th, graduation) are not eligible for getting calls from 13 IIMs as they prefer academic excellence."--completely wrong---

""2) Which private b-schools should I target in terms of placement & pedagogy?""

---u dont have to target placement pedagogy or any thing as of now...concentrate on cat only...u have good profile...it will be better if u have some xtra curriculars in ur CV...

@ajaygovindg
@avinashkrjha

we cannot do PhD after PGDM (since it is a diploma), but we can do PhD after MBA.
And here in GreatLakes they offering 1 yr program in PGPM (post grad program in Mngt), so are the ppl with PGPM, eligible for PhD ? Need to make sure some things are in place if i want to do PhD in future
Also please mention whether there is anything completely different about post-PGPM profiles/roles.
Last question please lemme know some top tier colleges (apart from GL,ISB) offering 1 yr programs.

Hi,
Pls tell me what all colleges should I apply to..

Xth - 87% (CBSE) - 2003
XIIth - 84.4% (CBSE) - 2005
Graduation - 77.95% ( Electrical & Electronics Engineer) - 2009
Work ex - 41 months as on Dec 2012

Attempts in CAT 2012
QA & DI - 19 (95-100% accuracy)
VA & LR - 23 (70 - 80% accuracy)

Thanks in advance.

@MANJULNEOGI its nt true tht students having less than 80% is nt eligible for iim call......aftrol its the cat score n the performance in GD/PI which matters most bt acads do hav an edge..............i remember a guy frm my batch converted IIM-I and IIM-L with 65% in X , 60% in XII n 61% in grad......rite now he is in iim-I n a male general category engineer
