1. If you are consistently getting in the range of 75-85 in CL Mocks, you should def end up getting 90+ in CAT.

2. If you put in some extra effort from now on, you can get anything from 90 to 99.xx in the actual CAT/XAT.

3. Apply to all the colleges of CAT with 85+ as cut off.

4. Through XAT : XLRI, XIMB, GIM

5. SNAP : SIBM, SCMHRD, SIIB

6. For details on cut off, visit this --> http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/cat-and-related-bschools/2012-which-b-schools-shou-t-83927/p-3594168/r-3607915

im appearing first time for cat 2012 n started recently with my preparations.

1) Im a bit confused that do we have to individually apply to the different M.B.A. colleges ?

2) If we have to then how to go for it?

3) as im already giving cat 2012 so still we have 2 apply individually for b schools?

1. You can aim for colleges who have cut off as 90+ or 85+ to be on safe side.

2. You won't be able to apply to few colleges that have the criteria of 60+ throughout.

3. Also, you might be asked about your heavy work-ex in your interviews.

4. Would also suggest you to take XAT and SNAP.

1. Yes, you need to apply individually to the colleges.

2. You need not apply separately to IIM's as you might have already ticked the options for IIM's while filling the form of CAT.

3. Stay tuned to this thread and you will remain updated about the dates and notifications of individual colleges. ATB..!!

Thanks Buddy>>>>>> One doubt I have that in B-Schools during placement I hope my poor acad. wont interfere again???

1. It depends on which B-school you are in. Also your heavy work ex would hold you in good steed during the placements.

2.I would also suggest that you apply to IIFT as it does not require 60% through out.

I would like to inform you that application process of MDI ,gurgaon has already started. Also IIFT, XAT, NMAT and SNAP notifications have already come out.

As we all know placements works wonder for Management graduates so its better to select top best b schools. The MNC's look for the graduates who are from top b-schools. So, before choosing any Management college go for a study of that b-school, It will be helpful in future.

I would just like to add one point that aspiring mba graduates should also look at the profiles being offered by the companies, at the B-school because nobody would want to work as a IT developer in a renowned bank.

Hi all,

My profile:

10th : 74

12th : 80

B.tech: 76

Work ex : 26 months as of now.

Extra-curriculars : decent

I am scoring in the 80's in AIMCATs(Clearing QA/DI cutoff in every exam, VA/LR is a bit dicey) , should I apply for MDI ?

I want to be realistic and do not want to waste my hard earned money.

Regards.

Yes, you should apply in my opinion. Keep working hard, analyzing the mocks, working on areas of improvement ! There lies the key

Do not stop yourself from applying to colleges where you wish to study just because you are scoring slightly less in mocks than required cutoff score ! You never know how you perform on D-Day and then there should be no regret that you would have got the call had you applied!

Hope this clears all such doubts in minds of many of us out here. :)

All the best!

1. IRMA-if you are interested in rural management then do apply.Good ROI.
NIRMA-if you are interested in marketing.
GIM- if you are interested operations.
K.J Somaiya-Finance. good ROI but no. of students in finance stream is very high.
TAMPI-if you are interested in marketing & it-ops.
IMI-if you are interested in marketing. Emerging college, it has a good ROI which is bound to improve in the future.
Great Lakes-PGPX course saves one year but would not help you if you are looking towards a change of industry.
IIT chennai, kanpur- Operations and Marketing. Awesome ROI.
FMS- awesome college, great placements and an even better ROI.

2.Before deciding on a college go through the profiles being offered there, their ROI and the specialization which is best there. This would help you make an informed choice.

ATB!!

@supratimd916 can you throw some light on top colleges providing specialization in HR??

Some top colleges offering HR as a specialized course are:
1. MDI,gurgaon
2.XLRI
3.XIMB
4.SCMHRD
5.TISS
6.IMI
7.XISS

Hopefully this would help.

@supratimd916 are they in a descending order ??

Nopes. Ranking of courses and comparisons are not allowed on this site so I would refrain from it.
