GIVEN CAT,IT WAS A DISASTER HAVE SOME HOPES FROM SNAP LETS C WHAT HAPPENS BUT FRUSTRATED FROM SO MUCH OPINIONS ABOUT MBA COLLEGES LIFE AFTER DAT I JUST WANT TO KNOW FROM THE ONES WHO ARE DONE WITH THEIR MBA FROM VARIOUS COLLEGES. SOME SAY COLLEGE EXCEPT TOP 20 HARDLY MATTERS ITS YOU WHO HAS TO BE GOOD IN UR JOB AND MANAGERIAL QUALITIES. JUST WANT TO KNOW THE ROLE OF COLLEGES IN UR LEARNING, KIND OF JOB UR GETTING AND EVERYTHING. JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A COLLEGE.EVEN IF ITS IN TOP 20 OR NOT
@pankaj.jena1988 so is it so the better the college is the better leader you will be......?n if i pursue mba from a college lets say if its not in top 20 or so it hardly make a difference as being told by many ppl who r mba grad. so is it true?
heyaa ... I am new here... pls help me out.. I am a 6th sem BE student.... i hv started d preparations for CAT 13.. evn done wid quant,LR and DI.. I jst came to knw abt acads thing... I wasn't aware abt it.. my acads r as follows- 10th- 87.23% 12th-64% grad (untill 5th sem)- 9/10 points bcz of some health problems i could not score well in 12th also i got to take a yr gap bcz of d same reason.... otherwise im gud in studies... bt as all top B schools r going for acads.....so wid these acads and a yr gap where do i stand now.... do i hv any chance of getting into top B schools ? or should i quite ?????
@Rajshreesurya IIM-C, FMS, NITIE, NMIMS, some IITs, MDI, XLRI ... these are among the best B schools as u would know, and they give huge weightage to exam score (CAT/XAT/NMAT). So u have great chance with good %ile. May be the ones like SPJain, JB etc known for giving profile calls attaches importance to board marks etc. They have none below 70% in 12th board. 1 yr gap is a thing which if u can explain well to the interviewer will pose no problem for call conversion. Best of luck.
@Rajshreesurya To a certain extent, past acads matter. And if past acads are bit low, even at places where you get GD-PI calls, what matters is how you can convince the interview panel about what you CAN do in future, or what you CAN be in future. After all they're looking for "place-able" material, as it affects the institutes' brand name also!
Since you're looking for CAT 2013, forget about past acads as of now. You can't change it can you? Focus on what you can do now. Sit and prepare the best you can for CAT 2013! All the Best. :cheerio:
@anji3 Its a post graduation course. The expectation from the institute should be minimum. The best they will/can do is guide you or show the path. If one goes in for MBA thinking of it as a placement agency then the expectations may not be met. If one goes in thinking that they'll teach you as in graduation, and spoon feed you, again you'll be disappointed. So the role of the institute will be limited to just guiding you. Rest you have lots of avenues/opportunities to improve your knowledge base by interacting with alumni, faculty, corporates etc.
Yes, post MBA also it is all up to you and the skills you develop for yourself. 2 years after you pass out from from a particular institute no one is going to ask you from where you have done your MBA, and you'll not be given any special preference also if you have passed out from IIMA or XYZ B-School, if you're NOT performing at the level that is expected from an post graduate student. The institute name is going to help you only in your first job post MBA. After that obviously it is going to be performance based.
hey puys, i just realised i made another mistake... i am now expecting a raw score of 105... is it a bad score?? what is my expected percentile?? what all institues will offer a call??
@james_khan 105 is a good raw score, and you can expect %tile of 95+ for sure, but how much above that you can know on Jan 9th!! :)
The institutes you can hope to get calls from (some of them depending on how much above 95 your %tile is) include some IIMs, FMS, MDI, XIMB, few IITs. Sit back and start your GD PI prep for now. All the Best :cheerio:
if not explicitly mentioned in the criteria by the IIMs...does clearing CFA L1/2/3 have an advantage in the admissions...to be more precise...Only Indian courses like ca/cs have point system for many IIMs...CFA does not find a mention...soo will clearing certain levels of CFA have any impact at all in the IIM selection process?
@c13shashanka raw score of 90+ (30+ net correct) will take u above 95 percentile,.... 5-6 wrong wont affect you,... if more than 8/16 wrong u'll be in trouble,.... hope for the best
can somebody plz tell me about icfai hydrabad abot the cat percentile it takes and about its own conducted entrance... is it a clg worth going.
my cat was not dat gud and i am not expecting a gud percentile and i cant drop a year fr mba entrance its really important for me to know abt okay b-schools wch accept 70-80 percentile students and do offer a gud placement.
