[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

@mightyaakash What help are you looking for buddy?

Institute comparisons are NOT allowed on this forum!!
@biswas.maxpayne Well people who took last year CAT (who would of course know how many they got correct/wrong), and people like me who followed those aspirants' posts last year, have an approximate idea of that. 😃 So that's how people quote percentiles here!! :)
@ajaygovindg One is generally optimistic when they quote their accuracy after a test, unless he is pretty perfect and everything is exactly right/wrong by what he assumed .. but I hope the approximations go by their reputation of the forum and it's highly qualified and dignified alumni 😃 .. a +1 for you sir
@biswas.maxpayne Well, we can't find out an individuals' accuracy, so we can only go by what he/she says. If he/she is being optimistic (or over optimistic) about accuracy level, then the worst that can happen is loss of around 4-5k or maybe slightly more, spent in applying to the institutes asked to consider/think of applying to!! :) Same with the approximations of percentile being said. 😃 But unfortunately one can't help it, because many institutes have deadlines before CAT results, which will lead into an altogether different debate on education being monetized and being made a business!!!
@biswas.maxpayne got the offer from NDIM PGDM. Also having offer from Jaipuria PGDM-Marketing and offer from VJIM which one 2 choose Please help guys..
@Aaran Comparison of B-Schools is not allowed on this forum. Also I'm not sure of whether anyone here would be able to help you out with the institutes you have listed, because none of them have a reputation compared to the top 40-50 institutes in the country!! Please do think on Why MBA and read/inquire in detail before signing up for just any MBA degree!!
@mightyaakash Kindly PM...if you need any information regarding the mentioned institutions...Comparison of colleges are not allowed on PG threads...
@ajaygovindg M sorry.. Now my 10th-60, 12th-57, B.tech-64 and Mat Score 588 or 66%ile. Have 13 months of workex as Technical Recruiter. Can u please suggest some college where I can apply and I have 2 take a college as I have left my job.
@Aaran Well, like I said, I don't know how joining for some random MBA degree will help. Depends on your expectations from MBA. Agreed you have quit your job, but you can always look for a new job with your work experience to back you up. Since your acads are also on the weaker side, I seriously would recommend that you work for some more time, say 3-4 years and then look for 1 year MBA programmes. Otherwise you'll be spending around 5-10lakhs on MBA and you'll get the benefits again after 3-4 years only (again depending on how well you perform in job). So considering the opportunity cost also, if you seriously want to get the benefits from an MBA, I would recommend you look for MBA after gaining some experience.

hlo sir... i got in 10th 67% ,12th 56% and graduation in english honours wit 50.75% marks. i dont have any job experience. i have taken CAT, and will also take XAT ,TISS and MAT..

can u please suggest some MBA colleges where i can apply .

@ajaygovindg I have work ex of 13 months in service sector already...but as my preference is Operations only and if i will not get a chance in some great OP colleges then will may be wait and prepare again...so thinking if i join a BPO this year and then give it a shot...will it hamper my chances...shifting to BPO after service sector...?
I agree with Ajay - the interview panel at any B School or subsequently during campus placements would primarily want to know - "was it by choice or chance that you landed in that job?! ". The nature of work is secondary.

In a job you are accountable and responsible for certain deliverable. You end up working in groups. A job helps you gain a professional approach. These softer skills are what are analysed first. Are you a learning person and have you gained as an individual because of the job? Then comes the domain/ function related skills that you may have acquired.

Lack of clear rationale for taking up a job, lack of evidence of learning in the job are factors that may lead to elimination.

Quality of work experience, brand that you are working for may give you an advantage over another candidate - these factors affect selection.

@kshinu16 Anything you do in your career should have a reason and you should be able to convince the interviewer (a layman from your perspective) how it is going to help in your career ahead. You have an interest in Operations/SCM, so then why move into BPO sector? If it is Business Operations that you are interested in, then there are many leading IT organizations which offer that, so you may want to try for that.If your decision to join BPO is thinking you'll get time to prepare for CAT, then I don't think it is going to help you much. Even BPO work is hectic and demanding. And considering I'm an interviewer I will not be able to understand the reason/purpose for this switch (on first looking at you resume/profile), and so the question will definitely come in the GDPI stage.
Ajay, very good points. Any job that pays you, will demand your time and attention. Not doing any job and preparing for CAT/ XAT alone would reflect negatively in interviews- Its difficult either ways, isn't it!

@sonu1412 Like I was telling Aaran, your acads might be a hindrance in getting into some top B-Schools, even considering the fact that there are some which give high importance to CAT score only! There might be some institutes you can target under MAT. Don't want to give you any false hopes. I'm not sure what are your reasons/expectations for doing an MBA. I would recommend that you work for few years and then try for MBA!!
@ajaygovindg plz help. how can we change any error done in CAT registration? I jst saw that i have wrongly entered my experience months. How to rectify that??
