ajaygovindg Could you please throw some light over KJSom?? HOW about their Placement and all??
@avinashkrjha hello sir,
This is punit.10th-68,12th-65,b tech-74%.HAVING 3 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE iN FINANCE COMPANY AS A CREDIT MANAGER.WANNA TO PURSUE MBA THIS YEAR.NOT EXPECTING MUCH HIGHER PERCENTILE IN THE CAT(70).,MAT-90,SNAP EXPECTING 70-80.WHAT TO DO WHICH COLLEGE SHOULD I APPLY .AND ALSO I WANT TO CHANGE MY LINE FROM FINANCE TO IT FIELD.THIS IS GOING TO CREATE ANY PROBLEM OR NOT???? WHAT TO DO REALLY CONFUSED......BUT WANNA TO DO MBA???
@Bibhu2109 Read through that admission query thread for NIT Trichy that I gave you and you'll get an idea I guess. Also read through some past year threads. If you still have the question then feel free to ask.
As per the information given in the FAQ section in their website "There is a 50% quota for other state candidates applying for MBA programme at DoMS-NIT Trichy."
Regarding placements, I don't think CIL is major recruiter. There are many PSU's and nationalized banks which visited in past. But then they have stopped recruiting from campuses now. But even then there is a good mix of companies recruiting from NIT T which includes leading MNC's liek KPMG, Standard Chartered, TATA Motors, Infosys, Cognizant etc. also. So I don't think placements will be a big problem. Still confirm for yourself by asking seniors there about companies which visited last year and the profiles offered (this is more important!).
@getintoiima Read through and ask in relevant help desk thread for KJSOM buddy! Even I'll have only information obtained like that from PG thread, website etc. Regarding trusting information given by current students or admissions team, well unfortunately that's what one can go by, unless you have some insider friends/seniors for some secrets like what happened with DMS, IITD some time back!! :mg:
@ajaygovindg How is Greak Lakes PGPM buddy ?? I have work-ex of more than 30 months now and this is one year course for experienced people(More than 24 months).
@erpunit21 You need not use caps to post your query. It may be considered rude/shouting!!
Anyways coming to your query - as far as IT companies are considered "Trespassers will be recruited" (Although it is a joke said about a particular campus of a leading IT organization in the country it is more or less applicable to all IT companies!!)
:mg:
:mg:If MBA is not a compulsion this year I would suggest attempting the entrance exams again next year! With that work exp you can easily get into IT companies in Finance Analyst profiles so you may want to try that also before thinking about MBA! MBA may not be that 1-stop destination to get what you want. You may be able to do it without it also, and if you still feel you want an MBA then go for it in a year or 2, but then for the any of the 1yr MBA for executives programs listed at http://www.pagalguy.com/posts/4246458 (You'll have to appear for GMAT for almost all of those!)
@ajaygovindg I am also looking 4 Mba 1 year from soil either great lakes gurgaon .Both are not aicte approved .Is this good to do from that colleges. As on site they are showing good placement. But it is going valid for other companies or degree is going to be valid????

Sir @avinashkrjha,@ajaygovindg,
I am expecting %ile in the range 70-90 & applied to fore, lbsim, bimtech & imt gzb.
I'll be giving XAT and i am also geting a job as technical it recriuter(1yr bond) & i am a 2012 passout engg. graduate.
Really confused what to do as of now as i have to join bfore cat results.
I am also thnkn of going for the job n try for nxt year with better aims.Is it wise?
And also comment on weather this profile vl help in future aftr doing B.E & HR vl b the nly option left if il do ths job n thn go for mba.
@vipin15 Since you're fine with it, I would recommend that you probably try again next year!
If you have a significant work exp (>2years) in HR profile then yes it might be tough getting into other areas, but not impossible. Only that you'll have to justify the switch and put it in proper words. You can probably join, give it a try for 1 year and then attempt entrance exams and go for an MBA next year if you're not happy with the job.
@ajaygovindg SIR I HAVE APPLIED FOR DoMS,UNIVERSITY OF HYDERABAD.I JUST WANT TO KNOW HOW GOOD THE COLLEGE IS IN TERMS OF PLACEMENTS,EXPOSURE...ALSO SUGGEST ME FEW MORE GOVT. UNIVERSITIES THAT CAN GIVE VERY GOOD ROI...
@ptapurva2008 Sorry, I haven't heard about it and I guess they don't figure in any rankings also!! I would only recommend MBA from one of the top 40-50 B-Schools in the country. Then again depends on what you expect from an MBA.
Considering the so called RoI (give x lakhs and get at least x+1 lakhs), following will be good options:
- Mutual Funds!!
- Share Market!!
- Fixed Deposits!!!
No offence meant, just kidding. But then something to think about. MBA is not just about placements. B-Schools are not placement agencies and neither is it an investment scheme like the ones mentioned above!
On serious note consider the following which feature in some top ranks:
- FMS, University of Delhi
- MIB/MHROD, Delhi School of Economics
- MFC/MBE, University of Delhi
- UBS Chandigarh, Panjab University
- JBIMS, Mumbai
- FMS-BHU, Banaras Hindu University
- SRCC GBO, Delhi University
- Delhi School of Management, Delhi Technological University (Only for engineers)
@erpunit21 Not having an AICTE approval will mean it is a certificate program and also the following:
1. It will not be considered when applying for Govt. jobs.
2. It will not be considered for doctoral/research studies
3. Needed for foreign universities and job prospects. Not that AICTE approval is everything. Some of the leading programs like at ISB, GLIM etc. are not AICTE approved as they are 1yr programs and AICTE does not approve of an MBA with 1yr duration. Read this for further info http://www.pagalguy.com/news/isb-hyderabad-aictes-list-unapproved-colleges-really-a-29394
4. For bank loan approvals
Rest the decision is yours. AICTE approval does not matter for institutes of repute and strong industry backing like ISB (it has international AACSB accreditation by the way) but then for others it MAY be a problem. Make sure of the placements scenario (of course that is your end objective!) before you jump into a decision. If you don't have intention for any of the above then go ahead and pursue your MBA from there. But at least make sure it is UGC approved programme. Else it is ILLEGAL!!
@SNAPstER Read this - http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/xat-snap-iift-and-others/sicsr-2012-2014-admission-queries-t-73002/p-2989079/r-3324054 and you should get your answer. :)
