[2023] Which B-Schools should you apply to?

@ajaygovindg said:
@erpunit21 I personally wouldn't recommend doing MBA from a Tier II institute for anyone with 3+ years work exp. Only from top 20 institutes. Others may disagree. Maybe @abhimukh19 can also add on his views.
First depends on one thing , if they want career switch then they should not look beyond top 10 ..

Second if they expect their starting CTC to be above 11 ... then top 15 is what they should target

The difference in quality of education and batch quality is not much different to let say between 15 to 35 ranked colleges

@erpunit21 This is for you! :)
@ajaygovindg
i have 64.77 in XII
will IIm rohtak n Tirchi call me if i get 99+ %ile

@ankit6633 Go through the selection criteria of the IIM you're asking for from this list:
http://www.pagalguy.com/posts/4082156

And do let me also know if you're able to make out something!! :mg: 😛 Sorry, no offence meant, but then honestly if you ask me, its a black box of how someone got call whereas someone else has not!!! There have been cases of someone with high percentile not getting call but a lower percentile getting call. So do the best you can in CAT and wait to see if the IIM calls you. In you case its just few more days you need to wait! :D
@ajaygovindg
sir these both have mentined 65% in XII n I have 64.77
@ankit6633 AFAIK the IIMs are very stringent in those criteria. They wouldn't consider even if your mark is 0.1% less than the eligibility criteria!! But you may still want to check in relevant final convert thread for those IIMs for this year i.e. 2012-14 batch and PM some current students also if possible to see if there are any relaxations made in that criteria.

sir just wanted to know the top 10 or top 15 which u are referring here . this is from which ranking, which ranking we should follow as authentic. I got through XIMB BM last yr but could not join due to personal reason , wanted to know if it is gud enough to be a part of it as i want a career switch. i am working as electrical maintenance engg in core sector wanted to move into strategic management role like consulting and moreso in finance role.
@rohit03 The top 10-15 would be old IIMs, XLRI, FMS, SPJAIN, MDI, NITIE, ISB, JBIMS, IIFT, IIT B, NMIMS, IIT D etc. Add or remove few from them. These are the institutes which are ranked consistently in the top by almost any rankings.

For getting into Finance roles and that too in Strategic Management it would be best if you go to institutes like IIM C, IIM A, IIM B, FMS, JBIMS, ISB, IIM L, SPJAIN.

@sayanfrndz - LIBA is a decent b school..apply 4 it..for operations read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operations_management.
IFMR is known for its finance specialization. So, in your essay write about your plans of specializing in finance and what skills u have that'l be suitable for this course.

Well, If We look at current criteria, you may face problems in getting call from IIM ABSK even if you score 99.5%tile+,
otherwise Your profile is decent for Top b-schools if you perform well in CAT.

@Aviatorsumit
Below are last year cutoff at the institutes you asked. No one can predict this year cutoff, but then you can get a fair idea based on the below:

MANAGE: 50% (75% for non-agri graduates) , Source: http://www.manage.gov.in/pgdm-abm/mandatory.pdf & http://www.pagalguy.com/posts/4126218
IIFM: Overall 75 with sectionals 50, Source: http://www.iifm.ac.in/admission/md2012-13.pdf
NIAM: They haven't updated it after 2010!!!
BHU(Course is conducted at Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, Barkachha, Mirzapur): Written test conducted by BHU for admissions, so not sure of cutoff. Source: http://bhu.ac.in/fms/academic.html
NIBM Pune: 80.29, Source: http://nibmindia.org/index.aspx?idp=86&idc;=228

For ABM programs like MANAGE, NIAM etc. read through & ask in http://www.pagalguy.com/forums/xat-snap-iift-and-others/manage-niam-naarm-nird-other-abm-agriculture-grads-2011-t-57504/p-2247470 for better responses. Do read through before you post your question.

All the Best! :cheerio:
