@Aviatorsumit Dude! How can anyone guess/predict the cutoff?!! I myself got all that information/links through simple Google Search (which by the way you or anyone can also do!). So rather than looking for cutoff's, predictions etc. focus on exam preparation as of now (if appearing for XAT), else wait for the results of CAT to know the cutoff of any institute!!
@missionCAT13 said:Well, Which Rankings You Are referring to?Here in PG Ranking, TISS has been ranked 20th, MICA 19th and SIBM 16th... On The Other Side, IMI 34th, SIIB 30th and GLIM 32nd...So According to you, Quality of education and batch is not different among these six colleges ? P.S.:- In Some of rankings, Arindam's IIM, BIMTECH and IBS also have been ranked between 15-35 along with MDI and IRMA...
we have time and again mentioned that those colleges which consistently come in top 40 bracket across rankings can be considered the top 40 ..
Yes i stand by the statement , not a huge difference in quality of education and batch quality at all ..
In some rankings if they have been ranked in top 35 , will you believe them if so .. then why are u asking such questions , if not then again why are u wasting everyone's time asking this question
@billa_786 said:Batch quality not much different b/w 15 to 35 ranked colleges.....Wow..maybe you have set this limit as IMI stands at 34....
Billa 786 .. I didnt not mention any ranking in my post .,. you may refute the statement but dont make my post factually wrong by adding your own assumptions ..
You could have asked on what basis i am saying that quality of education is not having a huge difference
1) Pedagogy followed is very similar .. similar cases , similar style of learning
2) Batch quality , many of the students who end up joining lesser b-schools , may not get through these top ones because of a bad day in GDPI , some academic issues in past, may not have , great extracurricular , even good communication skills is a big differentiator ..
3)You get to judge talent in b-school events a lot .. and if you do join a b-school and compete in some of these competitions , you will see difference is slim
But ultimately your success is in your hands .. whether you may be in IIM A or XYZ or ABC

I may not be in a position to initiate an argument as u are undoubtedly a veteran here. Many aspirants (including me) have been following your posts so as to imbibe some of your qualities.
However coming to my point,i still think there is a huge difference b/w these colleges. You may include some intricate terms like pedagogy (which no one knows until he is a part of the college). But i personally dont feel that this comparison is legitimate.
No offences sir.

Sure buddy , we are all entitled to have our own opinion .. May be we will find a common ground after you complete your MBA 😃
ATB .. Hope you get your dream college
@ajaygovindg Whatever our scores may be.... What will be the tentative dates for Calls from each IIMs. When will the threads be open for call getters from each IIMs? When shall I conclude that I have not recieved a call from a particular institute? How long will be the time we may have for GD/PI preparation ?
@missionCAT13 said:Well, If We look at current criteria, you may face problems in getting call from IIM ABSK even if you score 99.5%tile+, otherwise Your profile is decent for Top b-schools if you perform well in CAT.
for IIM K we dont need 80% in graduation..we need 65% to get 15/15 and so on.......and for board marks it depends upon normalization and which brd u r from..and your marks....so dnt give false information and break anyone's dream!:)i hope u wont get offended with my statement...if u want u can go TO www.IIMK.ac.in...and see the criteria for 2013-2015....if i m not wrong last year's cut off was 88 out of 100...for the second stage process(CAT -20,SSC-20,HSC-20,GRAD-10)...but for this year it has been changed..like SSC-15,HSC-15,GRAD-15,CAT-50,FEMALE CANDIDATE-5 marks....but the till now havent disclosed the cut off marks like 88/100 type:)
@tvino50 Usually each of the IIMs come out with GDPI shortlist shortly after CAT results are announced. Maximum within a week. So you can expect all IIMs to be out with their shortlists max by middle of 3rd week of Jan (or maybe end). GDPI process is usually spread across Feb-Mar starting early Feb.
So you will get 2 weeks to slightly above 1 month to prepare for GDPI of various IIMs!!!

Buddy his 12th percentage is 76% , last year, i didn't see anyone who had converted IIM K call with anyway give me the link of that document which says that one needs to have 65% in grad to get 15/15....

and for IIMB if u have 90% in 10 and 12 both (obviously from a tough board..where getting marks is tough) and 60% atleast in grad...and for SOG 6-12 MONTHS OF WORK EXP..then with 99.xx percentile any one has a good chance to get IIM B call:)
like for IIM B (cat =20,ssc=15,hsc=10,and grad=15)
If u want to see u can see this man didnt get a call from IIMB despite having 99.xx percentile,X-85%(rank 26 th in maharastra)),XII-86(rank 42 in commerce stream in maharastra) and grad (65%) from a mumbai university college...his brk up scores r given....I thik the composite score he got for 10 and 12...ruined his dream....had he been in 90's in both..would have been getting higher score and cleared the cut off 39.....chekc the file!!:)
@ShuvamJoy, @missionCAT13 Why do you want to keep discussing on these things on which you have no control?! Its more or less evident from the shortlists that IIMs have been giving out every year that its not purely score/acads based. They have an elaborate procedure to scrutinize the overall background (X, XII, grad, work exp, CAT score) of an aspirant for giving out GDPI calls. Yeh 1-2 marks ke baare mein behas karke is it a productive discussion? Those who have got calls have got it, and those who have not have moved on (I haven't heard anyone raising question/PIL on selection procedure of IIM in a court of law and being successful in making it to shortlist!!). So then what is the point of this discussion?
Sit and prepare for XAT (if attempting) or prepare for the GDPI (if you're sure of doing MBA, at least next year, god forbid if not this year, it will be helpful). Period.
I hope we'll have more constructive and useful discussions here. All the Best! :cheerio:
