1)Out of the old ones, I have just got a stage 1 call from IIM K. What are my chances for IIM I? I had read that they give certain importance to profile too.
2)Can I expect calls from the new IIMs?
3)I have applied to IMI Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad and also to XIM Bhubaneshwar through CAT score. Should I expect a call from them?
4) What is MICA's cutoff? Do I stand a chance there?
5) Can I expect a call from the IITs-Kharagpur, Kanpur,Madras?
6) I have a small doubt. Being primarily engineering institutions, Are IITs really good for an MBA? Are they better than K J Somaiya, TAPMI, BIM Trichy?

You should get call from TAPMI and Wellingkar, LIBA and KJSOM IB seems to be on border line, MICA is usually 90 %le, BIM trichy you may have a chance if yu belong to those reserved categories of TN

Not exactly the proper thread to place this doubt, but still, if i have broken workex, say 3 months in a company and then 6 months in another company before joining a B School, would my workex be considered as 6 months or as 9 months? Also what is the minimum workex required so that you are not considered a fresher?

What is management in international business?
In the age of globalization, companies are not limited to regional or national level only. They want to explore opportunities across the globe to make profits. By the means of bilateral agreements between countries and group of countries or trade union like EU,NAFTA etc, more and more companies are now involved in international business.
To manage their business functions they need individual who can understand both domestic and international functions of companies. A management education in international business will create functional competencies which would be essential necessary for operating in the international environment.
How it is different from general PGDM/MBA program of KJ SIMSR ?
In terms of course curriculum: In first year, PGDM & PGDM IB have common subjects. In the third trimester, Export Import Policy/ Procedure and FEMA are covered as a subject, in addition to the common first year subjects. In fourth & fifth semester we have specialization subjects in addition to common subjects. Choice of one foreign language between French and Spanish, taught throughout the second year.

With this kind of course curriculum one can work in similar profile offered to CORE PGDM whereas he/she can also work in international business profile.

The industry is yet to recognize the course and also the lack of awareness about the course among aspirants reflect in the lower cutoff €™s as compare to general/core PGDM program.
I still have doubt about placements. Can you give idea about placements?
For batch 2011-2013, PGDM & PGDM IB has common placement process and 96 companies have visited for 20102-12 batch. In addition to this, some IB specific companies used to visit exclusively for PGDM-IB.
So, Can i easily convert GD/PI call if i have CAT 90 + %ile ?
NO, mere better percentile will not help you to convert KJ Somaiya GD/PI Call. Your final conversion will be evaluated on the basis of CAT percentile +GD/PI and Case analysis performance Academics +Work ex score. (Personal experience)
