You have good chances of getting calls from all the 4 IIMs.
if you meet the sectionals.
and for the 2:
IIMC: cutoff remains about 99.5 sometimes
And IIM-K: gives pre calls to huge no. of ppl, but later on for 2nd stage call, they have their own system of scaling, but you have high chances of getting a call

HI all..

I'm an EC engineer in final year. I'm preparing for CAT. I wan to know good colleges form SNAP and also the difference between "Operations" and "Marketing", as it's required to fill in SITM...Which one is better??

Quoting a very relevant article for aspirants , as to why criteria is changing in colleges and tending in favour of women candidates

LADIES FIRST
DIVERSITY HIRING INTENT AMONG LEADING COMPANIES HAS INCREASED BY ALMOST 500 PER CENT SINCE LAST YEAR,ACCORDING TO A RECENT STUDY.YASMIN TAJ DELVES FURTHER
In a bid to increase their gender diversity ratio, companies today are selecting female graduates from B-schools during campus placements, discovers a recent study by FLEXI Careers India.Although girls add up to just 10-33 per cent of the student strength at the B-schools in the country, they still have been grabbing great offers at campus placements.
HR teams in organisations have been mandated with maintaining a balance in the gender ratio of employees;this and an overall awareness and acceptance of the importance of having a wellbalanced employee strength has prompted business leaders to identify roles where women would be attuned, productive, available and preferred.Organisations are therefore, starting at the grassroot levels of hiring females at the campus level,so that they can train and nurture them into becoming future leaders of the world, informs Sangeeta Lala, senior VP & co-founder,Team-Lease Services.
We have seen that on an average, women graduates have been able to secure roles whereby they have raised the ratio of their outgoing to incoming salaries by 2.8 times, asserts V K Menon, senior director-careers,Admissions and Financial Aid at the ISB.
Saundarya Rajesh,founder-president,AVTAR Career Creators and FLEXI Careers India, working in the space of enhancing womens workforce participation rate in India says,Diversity hiring intent among leading companies has gone up by almost 500 per cent since last year, according to a recent study done by us.Companies in the past two years have recognised the benefit of having more women in the workforce the benefits of a gender-balanced,diverse workforce are myriad, including the fact that a more diverse management team delivers ten per cent better results than an all-male team.
Traditionally, women have been under-represented in organisations and the argument for equal opportunity employment has not borne sufficient results in India.Naveen Narayanan, global headtalent acquisition,HCL Technologies points out that trends show a lot of companies are focused on diversity hiring than ever before.Companies are advocating and strongly working towards hiring/developing women executives as they believe the natural diversity it brings in thinking and action is of value to their firms.Various targeted campaigns for hiring women employees, creating inclusive workplaces and policies focused on retention of women employees are some initiatives. This has become a norm for any progressive organisation, he states.
Prof Satish Kalra, dean (placement ),International Management Institute (IMI) concurs,There has been a conscious effort to recruit more women professionals during campus hires this year. Some companies have gone the other way and mandated that for some jobs (like senior research engineer, market development manager, legal counsel, etc),they would prefer women.
The numbers are increasing, the demand too is increasing and hence, the future for women at the workplace certainly looks brighter.

1. Check the Pagalguy Rankings. You will know the colleges that are in top 30 or 50 through SNAP. Colleges through SNAP are : SIBM, SCMHRD, SIBM-B, SIIB, SIOM, SITM, SCIT, SIMS, SICSR, SSBM, SIMC, etc.

2. Operations & Marjeting are 2 completely different specialisation. For details, read the following threads :

Why SCM :

Why Marketing :

3. Which one is better : Go as per your interest.

4. ATB.. !!

Hi,

I donot know if this is the right thread to ask this query but im asking this on behalf of myself and several of my friends who will be taking the cat this year...
I(we) have experience of 26 months now in an IT firm as a Quality Assurance engineer which will be slightly less than 3 years when i will be joining a college in 2013...

Does this experience in IT industry act as an impediment during placements..
I know there are exceptions where people with 3 plus years have bagged coveted profiles but leaving these exceptions out, what has been the general trend for people with prior IT Experience during placements.

Do these guys usually get the lowest paying jobs/profile..

Senors/people who have gone through the process,Please Provide an honest opinion because I donot want to regret after joining the college

suppose someone attempts 20 odd question in sec-1 & gets 15 or 16 right
and in sec-2 he attempts 22 or so questions and gets 17 to 18 right then what percntile he could have achievd last yr ?

These kind of pre notion could screw your exam big time.

I suggest you and everyone not to think about all these. That could pressurise you in the real exam. Things could be very different this year.

So take and write the exam as it comes. All the Best.. !!

It is just that your performance is going low in real time because of "The Timer Fear". Don't panic seeing that time is running. Infact, by doing this you tend to lose more time. Relax and give the mock. It happens many-a-times that we get stuck on one particular question and happen to waste time on it and then when we look at the timer again with 8-10 minutes down on just one question, rest question bhi nahin hotey because now you have let the pressure take over you. Select the easy-medium questions judiciously and solve them. Now, easy-medium questions can only be decided by you as per your strengths etc. Don't waste time on questions that are from the topics which are your strength but will take time. Do them at the last because there you tend to miss on the other sitters present in the paper.
There's more to write and tell but my palm has bandage on it so can't type much continuously. :|
Sorry. Will add once you reply back. :)
@Estallar12 it is difficult to select the easy medium question..strengths..sare topic cover kiye h.questions to sbke h hojate h....kbhi kbhi p and c atakta h bs ...rest all goes fine...but mock ke time h esa hta h...that things don't work out...

Okay. Your favt topics in Quant..?? Is this a problem only with Sec I or Sec II ? I had presumed it only for Sec I and I guess it should be only with Sec I.
@Estallar12 : waise temme wat ur strategy while attempting Sec1 n Sec2. How do u go about approaching it?
@Estallar12 today i gave an unproc mock...thda aram se dia..got 81 percentile...it was unproc 7
@Estallar12 first time itna score aya h...to ab lg rha h ki paper h easy rha hoga :P
