Thanks a lot sir.....yeah i understand the logic of getting a call first and then converting, but there are some top colleges (like SCMHRD,SIBM,IMT etc) which are not so good in OPERATIONs....so the queryJoining a college just because it is Top-25...But that may not be so good in OPERATION....is it prudent....or to change d course....say i am getting an admit in SCMHRD/IMT-G....so i opt for Marketing?
or there might b a case where a college may b out of Top-25 but may be offering better course in OPERATIONS than any of these top 25.......
This is something that a student has to decide. Whether he/she wants to prefer the college with better brand or the college providing Ops as Flagship Course.
But then, if you join college X which is ranked better (for which you gave the example of SCMHRD/IMT), I would still suggest you to take Ops only. These colleges might have Marketing as Flagship Course, but that doesnot mean Ops will be bad and you go against your interests.
the fellowship program also accepts the GATE/NET score in IIM'S & other good collegs.. bt fellowship is for postgraduates as i know of.. & GATE is given by UG's ALSO.. so is a person with BE background giving GATE is eligible for the FELLOWSHIP programes ?

As far as I know, Engineers with 60% marks are eligible for the Fellowship Programs of IIM's and other good colleges.. !!
There are many other colleges where PSU's recruit.
Some of them ---> IIT's, NIT's, IMI, GIM, etc.
I suggest you to check the placement reports of 15/20 Top Colleges other than IIM's. You will find the company list there and will get to know regarding PSU's..
Sorry to Say according to a new court order , PSUs can no longer hire directly from CAMPUS , they have to follow entrance exams and reservation policies
PSUs wont hire from B-schools from this year .. Public sector banks will however continue to recruit from b-schools

1. First thing is your expectation level. If that is sattisfied, Apply to that College.
2. Second point is your Mock Score. Let us know your Mock %iles.
3. Third thing is deadline. Many B-Schools will have last date for applying after your CAT Exam and few will have after CAT results as well. So you can apply accordingly.
4. Fourth point is your desparation to join a b-school this season only. If it is Yes, you should apply to a greater pool of colleges. If it is No, you can skip few.

Now that CAT is near tho am having my cat on 4th nov am confused that whether i shud do more and more ques of diff types and mocks which are remaining or jus go through the new concepts which I learned from previous mocks. As I have given a lot of mocks but cant able to do those ques which repeat wid slight variation which i cudn't able to do then. Altho giving mocks have indeed increased my conc and speed and consequently scores a lil bit. So am confused whether i keep on giving mocks, as many are still remaining, to keep d flow or jus go thru the already done mocks in order to build those concepts whcih i lag in??

You still have a month to Go.
I suggest you take more mocks and analyse them properly. Identify the areas where you go wrong. Find out the reasons for the same. Practise 40 to 50 questions of that kind from the materials and previous year's CAT Papers.

How much weightage does IMI give to profile? I have heard somewhere that IMI gives very heavy weightage to past acads. and that converting the call is very difficult if your CAT score is close to the Cut-off score. (I doubt the authenticity of the source, so posted here).

12th : 80.0 %
B.Tech : 75.9%
Extra-curriculars : Decent
Work Ex. : 28 months(In a "so-called" top IT company) , as of now.
Mock scores in AIMCAT's : close to 90% ile.
Should I apply to IMI?
Is there any real chance of converting the call(If I am called for GD/PI)?
Also, is it mandatory to take hostel accomodation?

1. It would be better that you put your questions on IMI's admission discussion thread, as you would get more informed answers there.
2. Your profile is good. Also you can expect a CAT score of more than 93%ile , which is above the last year's IMI cut off. Thus you can apply to IMI. ATB!!!
1. CAT Score has a weightage only for the GD/PI Call. After that, your CAT Score doesn't matter. So one can easily convert the call even if he is just near the cut off %ile.
Depending on your CAT score you can get into most B-schools in India. That you are a non- engineer (especially a commerce graduate) and have worked with KPMG will help you a great deal.
