@avinashkrjha : Bro, can you please elaborate on the terms 'profile fit for SP jain'? I mean what are they looking out for?
Academic consistency, Relevant work experience in the chosen specialization, versatility and achievements are some of the things that they look for.. !!
Average package for IT and Marketing..Studies?? Faculty?? And yes..what exactly does avg package mean..
1. IT is not offered as Majors. It is offered as Minors till now. If there will be sufficient number of students opting for it, it could also be offered as Majors in the future.
2. But then, there are many IT Companies coming to the Campus for Placements. So if you wish to make a career in IT, there won't be any stopping at GIM.
3. For detailed placement statistics, refer this --->
It is not only about IT Domain. But the point is that it is not easy to change your domain when you have heavy work-ex. e.g If you want to change from IT to Finance or Sales or Marketing. That doesn't mean that it is not at all possible but companies have this selection criteria which they don't mention explicitly. And the situation is same across all the B-Schools except for may be top 4-5 institutes. So while entering into any B-School, just keep in mind that it won't be easy, there will be some fight.
There are certain reasons why most of the companies don't shortlist people with heavy work-ex. They think that higher amount of work-ex brings some rigidity in the person and he/she will not be open to anything as compared to freshers. Moreover, the work-ex is not in the sector in which they work. Also, they could demand a higher package at a later stage. And this is more true for Summer Placements. In finals, you will def have more chances as compared to Summers.
This is not to discourage anyone out here but just to inform what lieas ahead.
Regarding GIM ---> Having said all this, The students with IT Work-ex also got the similar profiles that other's got but not with ease. They had to put in some extra effort for it. And this applies to all the B-Schools as I said earlier.
