Guys, no need to worry about the tution fee which you have deposited!! A few months ago,the Consumer Court had directed SP Jain to refund 1.4 lakhs to a student, provided the seat which the student left was filled by someone else (which is obvious since they have waitlists)
Read the excerpt below which i got from a newspaper on google! Might be use to some of you who have got multiple calls...
MRTPC move to benefit many students
September 21, 2006 13:12 IST
In a judgment that can benefit a large number of students who change educational institutes during competitive exams such as Common Admission Test (CAT), the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission has told Mumbai-based S P Jain Institute of Management and Research to return Rs 1.4 lakh (Rs 140,000) to an applicant who later took admission in IIM-Lucknow.
"We find that the respondent (SPJIMR) has indulged in unfair trade practices and also brought about additional cost on the applicant by forfeiting the entire amount," MRTPC acting-chairman M M Sardana said.
He asked the institute to refund Rs 1.4 lakh to one Varun Gupta within six weeks.
The commission held that the scheme of changing from an institution to the other by a student was "inherent to the entire system . The institute is not expected to make undue gains particularly in a situation where the system allows the candidate to change their institution before the commencement of the course," Sardana said.
The institute had mentioned that Gupta would have to deposit a sum of Rs 1.4 lakh, which was non-refundable. As per instructions, Gupta took admission by submitting Rs 1.4 lakh.
Later, he got a confirmed call from IIM Lucknow and took admission there. He also informed SPJIMR and sought refund. But, SPJIMR refused to return the fees paid as per the terms of admission, forcing the candidate to approach MRTPC against the institute for indulging in unfair trade practices.
In his petition, Gupta said, SPJIMR's action amounted to restricting the competition, leaving no scope for candidates to exercise options with their CAT score and would burden them with additional cost.
SPJIMR countered Gupta's contention and said the institution suffers loss if an admission is cancelled.
However, the commission rejected this contention and observed that Gupta had informed SPJIMR within a week. At that time a waiting list of candidates was available and the institute could have filled the seat.
MRTPC compared the admission cancellation process of other institutes and found that in most cases only a part of tuition fee is deducted and substantial fee is returned.
The commission felt that the institute's action amounted to "restricting the choice of candidates."
"The institute would naturally be making financial gains at the cost of students while it is not making any financial loss correspondingly," the commission observed and directed the institute to return Rs 1.4 lakh to Gupta within six weeks.

HI Puys
IMI results out----screwed up.
left with two - LBS and FORE.
even i was confused earlier amongst the two (before thrashed by IMI).
talked to many people and seniors in personal, suggested to go in for LBSIM.
why does LBS has higher cut-offs than fore, better placements and lower fees? and still some people rank it below Fore.
i don't want to pay extra money for just improved infrastructure and being in Qutab Institutional Area.
so, after a thorough analysis came to the conclusion-------bye fore and hi LBSIM.
and for the rest of the people who have similar confusion-rethink!!!!!! is only what i have to say!!!!!!
BYE Folks.

i am not misguiding anybody...........would you have been happy if i had written the same at LBS forum???
and how does it matter, whether its a first post or 1000th....
analysis does not need require anybody to post something or the other at PAGALGUY.
you must be at FORE.....right??? itna senti hone ki zarurat nahi.
even the earlier post on 24 pages (which i have been through), had some queries and decision. even i enquired abt the reality behind the highest package of 12 lakh this time.
and for your information, even i have secured more than 95%ile....remember IMI call....
i am here not to fight........it's just my decision and not a gimmick (don't be so senti over this)....and i am not misguiding anybody for your kind info.
i am sorry in case you took it that way..........and i guess PG is meant for sharing viewpoints

P_a_G_a_L_G_u_Y Sayswell.....dont u think these questions shud have been asked before u applied.... :-? ...neways...yes there are lateral placements for work-ex ppl....the regular recruiters and placement scenario(salary etc) are there on the website....
Ya i agree these should have been asked before but my query was regarding
the latest placement statistics for the batch of 2007 ..and my query still
has not been answered completely..cud u plz give details abt the
placements for Marketing.. which companies..profiles offered and avg salaries
offered .
Thanks in advance !
P_a_G_a_L_G_u_Y Sayssector wise avg salary i dont know....overall avg was arnd 6.25...
No offences meant but are you sure about this figure of 6.25? Why do I remember a figure of 7+ mentioned on the notice board at FORE? Other Puys can corroborate the same. And yaar I think it is pretty much a norm to mention the average, mean and median salaries on the placement reports of a B-school across the world... remember even Harvard and Kellogg do the same. And not everyone visits pagalguy and institute before applying to the schools.. most of the junta relies on the official reports. So requesting the guys at FORE to provide an updated, complete placement report at the Official website.
It may be immaterial to look at the salaries for making a decision about which school to join, nevertheless more information at hand is never bad.
Hey ther, future FOREIANS

Hey seniors!!
Atlast I zeroed on to FORE.....gudbye LBS and Hii FORE
And I know I've made the right decision
I wanted to clear out some doubts........plz help me out on these
1) What is FORE's speciality....e.g. XLRI is famous for its HR, ICFAI is gud in Finance...so what abt FORE??
2) I read a post on orkut that the hostel is like an apartment where boys stay in the ground floor n gals at the top floor. And this place is nearly 5kms from the collg and a van reaches the hostel to pick the students....but they don't have a mess or something like that but there is a tiffin centre just infront of the hostel....
But this post was made way back in 2006....will we get the same place huh??
plz reply soon
Thanks in advance
Chao!!!
